Where are my Ghost Hunter pals? Did you all catch the season finale last week with the house supposedly haunted by Sharon Tate and her husband?

I did and thought it was interesting. The one I likes is the one where they were in Ireland and looking at the old ruins and at one point on the thermal camera it looked the group were being followed by the spiriats.

I haven't seen the one with the Tate connection, but I'm going to try to catch the re-run at some point. I didn't even know they went there until last night when my brother told me...eerie because I'm in the middle of reading "Helter Skelter" for the first time.

Yeah, I just watched The Manson Family the night before, and I didn't know about the Tate connection either.
In the episode, they take along another one of their "extended TAPS family" friends from another state who brings along an interesting piece of Ghost Hunting equipment that lights up when there's high energy readings. He uses it like a Ouja (sp?) board. . .I was just wondering what others thought of it.

I really liked the Season Finale.
I liked when they investigated the Henson Studios, which used to be the Charlie Chaplin studios. It's amazing that Jay and Grant caught the apparition on the thermal camera within minutes of investigating! That was great.
I've been reading about this show but we don't get it in Canada as far ass I can tell so I've been trying to watch pieces of episodes on Youtube. It's really good from what I have seen.
How many seasons are there?

How many seasons are there?
Three seasons so far, but they split each season in half for some reason. I beleive the first two seasons are avaiable on DVD, as well as "best of" compilation DVD.
The show's pretty good, but it tends to bog down in same-ness. They repeat themselves WAY too often (describing their equipment and approach), and the structure of each episode tends to adhere too strictly to a now stale formula.
I've noticed the constant repetiton too.
I figure it'll last a season or two more only because of the formula as you mentioned.
When it's pretty much the same thing (you get a history, investigate, review footage and reveal findings) every show and the only pay off is a moving shadow or a door that opens by itself audiences are going to stop tuning in eventually.
So far i have enjoyed it, but I can see it getting old fast.
It's like World's Scariest Places and the Celebrity Paranormal Project. It's the same thing over and over. When something happens it's always off screen and usually just a noise.
At least with Ghost Hunters they occasionally catch something on screen.
Just Jeans

The repetition of descriptions tends to be the same footage over and over. I think it's more to do with SCI-FI and the show's editors than Grant and Jason wanting to hammer us over the head with explanations. SCI-FI probably assumes the casual viewer will tune out if they don't know what Jason and Grant are talking about, so they keep shoehorning in the explanation footage.
As for the sameness... well, it's a group of people hunting ghosts. There's not much you can do to shake up the formula, apart from sending them abroad (like they did for series 3, going to England and whatnot).

What I don't like is when they sit there and just talk about whats going on in there life at the moment. I'd rather see them looking for the ghost rather them showing footage of whats going on in there life.

If you're talking about Brian, you'll be out of luck on that. He's left the group again (or was kicked out -- it's unclear which) and won't be back in the second half of season 3.
I don't mind them talking about their lives.
It adds a little something to it seeing that they are regular people with day jobs like me.
I'd love to do this kind of thing as a hobby but there isn't anyone that i know around here that does it seriously or from their perspective, going in to try and debunk and actually catching something unexplainable the odd time.

This show's pretty bad. I mean, great concept but they rarely do find anything that makes me go, "gee, there's concrete evidence of a ghost". Granted I haven't watched it in awhile, so maybe you guys can youtube some stuff that you find creepy, but I watched a marathon of seasons 1 and 2 and nothing really made me contemplate the afterlife.
Brian was a herb.

If you're talking about Brian, you'll be out of luck on that. He's left the group again (or was kicked out -- it's unclear which) and won't be back in the second half of season 3.
Dammit. He's the only one on the show that was "interesting" in any way. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Jason and Grant, and I get a kick out of Tango and the dude with all the tats (you know, he's the one they're constantly showing the interview footage of explaining orbs/cold spots/EMF) but they're all kind of one-note. With Brian, particularly after he came back but had to play second-fiddle to the tatted dude, he always had that air of "I've been doing this longer and I should be the tech manager still, so I'll constantly remind everyone of how much I've done" and this look that just...made me laugh and pissed me off at the same time. Plus, it was always funny when he fucked up, because he always got reamed harder than anyone else.
I think I enjoy the show more when there's an expansive location. It's just not that exciting to me when they go to some random person's house that has, like, three bedrooms. The atmosphere was always better in places like Eastern State Pen, etc. Didn't they do an episode at that old sanitorium with the death tunnel? That place, in and of itself, is fucking scary.
What I'd like to see is the show adapt some of the techniques used in MTV's "Fear" from circa 2000-2001. That show (at least the first few episodes, before MTV started going out of their way to plant insanely stupid scares) was really fun to watch, and always had me on edge. The little NV cameras attached to each member, focused on their face, were pretty cool. Likewise, telling people what happened where they are, via radio, always kind of creeped me out. I realize that the Ghost Hunters are trying to do something "scientific" but, c'mon, you're doing a show, too. Let the viewer actually get scared from time to time.
~Blake
Just Jeans

If I want to get scared, I'll drive down to New Mountain Cemetary (you, me and Adam still need to do that, Blake). I got into Ghost Hunters precisely because they go in and try to debunk the things people say. There has been some good stuff caught on camera or on audio -- particularly in series 3 -- but I can see why it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
As for Brian... well, I'm not sure what the deal with Brian is, but I know the official TAPS forum has banned discussion of what went on between Brian and the others. Jason or Grant issued some comments about them trying to remain as diplomatic as possible, but I think there was some sort of big meltdown. I know Brian isn't the only one who left. Donna went with Brian back to their original ghost hunting team, and I think one of the "in training" guys left, too.
ADDED:
This is from the TAPS forum:
This is going to be the only post regarding Brian leaving the show. I called Jason to get the okay to post it.
I don't want any other threads created about Brian or why he left or bashing Brian or TAPS for him leaving. If a new thread is created, you will receive a warning.
"TAPS and Brian came to an agreement and thought it best for Brian to leave TAPS and Ghost Hunters.
Brian was asked to leave TAPS and the show Ghost Hunters for numerous issues which we will try not to get into unless we have to. Feel free to ask, Tango, Dustin, Steve, Grant, myself and numerous production crew members.
He can state what he wants and anyone can believe either but some have proven track records with the facts.
We are trying to keep this honest and polite but can only do so if certain people stop being dishonest with the fans. It was within our best interests to remove him. At least we know the truth. At least I have stated the facts.
We want to wish him the best with future endeavors."
Whatever went down, it wasn't good.
Regarding them catching things on camera etc.
There have been a few things that they have caught that are unexplainable and I'm actually happy to finally see that in a TV show.
Celebrity Paranormal Project, World's Scariest Places and most shows of that nature tend to show a person holding a camera, suddenly turn and say "what was that", start screaming at a random noise off screen and then a we get the Blair Witch effect with shots from their equipment as they run around.
As few events as Ghost Hunters has captured on camera at least this show has that kind of stuff, every other show I've seen alway has a noise off camera and then hysterics. The viewer is never shown anything.
I'm watching for the same reason Jeans did, because they go in to debunk and actually attempt to analyze what they find.
Just Jeans
08-02-2007, 02:38 AM
The one they shot in the prison with the thing that rushes at the camera and then suddenly reverses was eerie. It looked like a person in a cloak, but the way it reverses direction so fast is odd (and I don't think Jason and Grant would stoop to setting things up, although there's no way to know for sure). They also said it would have only been about three feet tall.
EDSZkzRuQSA
The one at the lighthouse -- with the outline that leans over the rail and then dips back -- was good.
Some of the audio they've captured this season has been downright blood chilling (particularly in the finale for season 3).

Idunno, I enjoy watching but I don't completely trust them, either. I'm willing to suspend my disbelief and just be entertained, though. The prison thing is pretty spooky, and there have been some things, like what they caught on thermal that one time that looked like a person running across the hall, that I enjoyed.

The thing I don't trust about Celebrity Paranormal, Rick, is that it's based for even more cheesy entertainment than Ghost Hunters. In fact, if you remember the Psych-Hospital they go to, well they went there in Ghost Hunters. With the little boy Timmy? Well, when Ghost Hunters went there, they found nothing. Now even they said that possibly they caught it on the wrong day, but when CPP went there all the sudden it was a hot spot of spooky sounds and strange happenings.

Yeah, those EVP's they caught in that house close to the Manson murders were creepy as hell.
That footage from Eastern State Penitentiary was really good. After they sent the footage out to clean up, you can see it better. That was pretty weird. Even when they had Brian stand there in the cape, it didn't even look similiar.

I've seen some pretty spooky things in my life, so I believe that the images/sounds they show us could be genuine. We can never know for sure if they're faked, but I'd like to believe they're not.
Yeah, those EVP's they caught in that house close to the Manson murders were creepy as hell.
It sounded like the voice of a woman being tortured. It was pretty horrible, fascinating stuff.
I also liked the episode where they went to City Hall in Jason's home town. The footage that the guy who worked there provided them was pretty eerie, and it was something that Jason and Grant couldn't simulate.
I think the next batch of episodes will be Season 3 part 2.
MaDMaNMaRz
08-02-2007, 04:07 AM
Yeah, the City Hall episode was great. Also, if you noticed, it looked like the apparition was going THROUGH the table.
I REALLY liked the episode where they investigated the Lisheen Ruins in Ireland. That was crazy how Jason and Grant caught that red spot on the thermal, then it split into 3!!! But then they actually sort of looked like the shape of a human! Then it just disappeared. There was alot of activity in that episode.
I'd LOVE to see TAPS investigate Bachelor's Grove Cemetery. It's in the Chicago-land area( in Midlothian). It's said to be the most haunted spot in the Chicago-land area. That would be a very interesting episode. Although now that I think about it, they might now allow it. Alot of people have vandalized it, and even satanic rituals/animal sacrifices have taken place there!!! The police heavily guard it, so they might not let ANYONE go in.

I still haven't seen the episode yet, but if they were near the Tate/Polanski house, both Sharon Tate and Abigail Folger (heiress to the Folger's Coffee fortune) were brutally, brutally stabbed to death. According to one of the Manson family members, Tate (who was over 8 months pregnant) begged for her life and the life of her child, and Susan aka Sadie told her "Bitch, I don't care about you or your baby" before stabbing her.
Folger made it out of the house and was finally brought down in the yard.
If there's ever been torture, those people went through it.

It did sound like a woman crying and begging while being tortured. It really rattled the home owner, as it was a voice he'd never heard before. While watching, I reckoned it was the voice of Sharon Tate.
The murders occurred less than 500 yards from his home, which is only a couple of years old He and his father built the place, and even while they were working on it other construction workers reported strange events. One of the workers left and didn't come back for several weeks. He never said what happened, but something spooked him badly.
I think the guy who owns the house might be considering moving.

They had the episode on where they investigated the Queen Mary. That footage they caught in one of the rooms would have been great had it not been tampered with. At first, it looked like the covers were moving by itself. But you could see where someone paused the camera. :(
I have the first 2 seasons on DVD. Is there a release date for the first part of the 3rd season?
Just Jeans

I didn't even know season 2 was on DVD yet.
Season 3 probably won't be released until the second half airs. The second season of Ghost Hunters was aired the same way. It took them nearly a full year to air all the episodes.

Yeah, both Parts 1 and 2 of Season 2 are out. :) I just bought both of them yesterday.
When you mention the EVP's, I think the EVP from the 1st season finale was good. That was the one where they investigated Adam Zubrowski's house. The EVP they caught in his room was a man saying "I miss Adam". When he said "Adam", it just sounded so creepy.
The Hellfire caves episode from Season 3 was good. That mist/anomaly that comes out of the wall was really creepy.
I'm with Blake. I don't totally believe but I'll suspend that belief for an hour and let them fuck with me. I would just have to see it to believe it, ya know?

Do any of you guys have an all-time favorite episode? It's kind of hard, but if I HAD to pick one, i'd say the St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida. The whole time, there was activity in the lighthouse. Everybody in the crew saw the apparition on the staircase, and heard the voices/noises.

Season 3 volume 1 and the halloween stanley hotel investigation are out in stores now for those curious. Also, Big Vision has recalled the season 2 boxsets and repaired the audio on season 2 part 2 (those who have this, will know what I'm referring to). Unfortunately, it seems the part 1 set is still the same. I sent them both my sleeves and when they sent me replacements, the first set didn't seem to be changed at all. Odd. However, the second set is so much better quality wise. I haven't picked up the new dvds as DVDempire has one of them backordered and my order won't ship until it comes in....

There was a new episode of Ghost Hunters today where they went back to the St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida! That was a good episode. There were alot of experiences again. This time, they caught more audio than video.
Ghost Hunters International was good too. Robb appears to be a good investigator. It was weird not having Jason and Grant investigating. I'll definitely be watching this regularly as well.

So long as SCI-FI requires them to run the explanations, they will.
Yes, it does get old. But look at it from SCI-FI's point of view -- if someone is channel hopping and happens to land on Ghost Hunters, SCI-FI would like to keep them watching. If TAPS start tossing out the technical terms without explaining them, the casual observer might get flustered and turn over.

I remember seeing him wearing a Carcass shirt on at least one episode. :) Me and Steve would get along. We'd talk about metal and horror films all day, while drinking beers. Good times.

A little over a month ago, I sent in the cover for my Ghost Hunters Season 2 Part 2 DVD since it was one with the terrible sound. Today, I got my fixed copy....as well as Ghost Hunters Season 2 Part 1, which I didn't own nor did I send them the cover. Sweet!

You definitely should. Just put the cover(not the cardboard slipcover) into an envelope & mail it to Big Vision Entertainment & they'll replace it free of charge. It took me about a month & a week to get mine.

So if I go to the store to buy the Season 2 Part 2 DVD, will I get one with good sound? Have the messed up copies all been recalled?

They should've been recalled by now. If not, just send in the cover to Big Vision Entertainment & they'll fix it for ya.
I heard that TAPS recently came to Trinway, Ohio(right by Dresden & about 20 minutes from where I live) to investigate Prospect Place aka the Trinway Mansion. A friend of one of my friends got to work security & hang out with the crew. Tango & Steve were spotted at Gamestop, where my friend's friend works. Very freaking cool! I wish I would've known or been at the mall. Randomly running into the gang from TAPS would be insane.
I hope this investigation airs during the fourth season. I think it will. I'm pumped!

Has anybody been watching the new episodes? I think they're pretty decent overall but I'd like to see Dustin in some of them. It's like they just have a set team now.
Tonight is the episode where TAPS investigates Prospect Place, which is about 20 minutes or so from where I live. I've seen the outside of it many times.

Being from the Cleveland area I'm checking it out too.

GHI is back on for the continuation of the first season. Dustin is now a part of the show, which is great since he's my favourite investigator. I missed last week's episode but am watching the new one right now.

Not currently, I believe they announced at the Halloween Live show that next season will be in HD. That sticker is a bit misleading.

If the show has yet to go HD, what's going to be on this Blu-ray release? Just a bunch of SD highlights?

I've been really slacking with watch Ghost Hunters. I barely watch it these days.
Holy crap, this is an old thread.
I just started watching Ghost Hunters with the 100th episode. My mom's been watching for years, and she finally got me into it. I've been going back and Netflix-ing the past seasons so I can catch up. Some of the stuff they find (when they do in fact find evidence) is pretty freaking sweet.
Grant: "Can you do that for us again?"
Disembodied voice: "No."
:lmao:
