Let's start this off right with great news.
Code Red just acquired The Mutilaror for an official DVD release!
nice. my dvd is such bad quality and this deserves a real release.

The Laserdisc I ave is great quality I put it on DVD... I'm hoping the CR DVD will e wisescreen

Me too. "Director Approved". Well that director better approve it for widescreen, or I'll shriek like a banshee. I wonder what DGITW would have looked like widescreen? Oh well,
I'm excited for this. It's not my favorite, and would probably only give it a 4 or 5 out of 10, but it's fun, and worth having. "I'm coming to get you" :P

DGITW was fullscreen? I always figured the 15th anniversary was widescreen? I have the DVD, but I don't remember. My widescreen TV/DVD player automatically stretches everything to widescreen if in FS format.
yeah it's full screen..hopefully the mutilator will be a widescreen transfer.

Don't know about the 15 Ann.
But the 25th Ann is fullscreen. :D Sorry, I'm mean.
Anyways, yeah, it's fullscreen. I think it says so on their blog in 2006, plus perhaps on the back of the DVD, plus...it was full on my tv. :( Oh well

I have a feeling they will use the same transfer that's on the Laserdisc as it's really nice. Hopefully there is a WS transfer/print out there that can be remastered. However, I don't know if Code Red has the money to get that transfer and remaster it.
They couldn't afford to purchase a widescreen print of The Forest for 35 grand.. but there is a WS transfer of it out there... hopefully one day we will see that.

Ummm...haha, sCabbOy, The Forest is widescreen. :D

Ummm...haha, sCabbOy, The Forest is widescreen. :D
Well, now I stand corrected and looking foolish.
Haha
Well, at any rate, in the commentary they speak of this. I think they meant that a better print was available and they had to use an old one to remaster it.
Like I said, my TV always shows widescreen when I play movies I don't know which is which...

LOL, well, I do hope they get out the DVD soon. I like how they wait a while, but it has been six months sine their last release, and I'm getting fed up. We want more! Sole Survivor is coming out early 2008. That's good, but it's also 6 months away. May others come before it. :(
So, here's their horror releases:
Don't Go In The Woods...fullscreen
The Forest...widescreen
Devil Times Five...widescreen
Doom Asylum....fullscreen

Who knows when this is slated for release. They still have to get the goods, create the extras, remaster, and so on. It can be a year or more.

Damn, and I thought RTSC was a long wait. :( Hoping for Nightmare and Sweet Sixteen soon. Although I know they're having trouble with SS.
RTSC is coming out the day after never.

I can wait for both, although I am curious to have them. I have them both and the Nightmare version I have is the completely uncut one with the TV scenes and the uncut movie with the cut scenes all incorporated into the same version.
I wish they'd release that one.

I'm glad this title worked out for them. They've struggled a bit so far, but I think they'll be okay. I just wish they'd get back to work on The Redeemer (Class Reunion Massacre). :(

Interesting. I may or may not be in line to buy this. I picked up Doom Asylum, that's a given. DGITW and The Forest, I just don't like what I've heard in reviews. They'd have to do a DF of these for me to pick them up (or a price drop). A few years ago, I'd have been all over these, but now I'm a bit more aware to proceed with caution with most shitty slashers. I don't mind the cheesy ones, it's the downright boring ones that I am afraid of. I'll have to read more up on this one. It's been awhile since I've looked it up.
I've heard that there may be an even longer uncut version out there than what was released uncut on video. Anyone know if this is true?
With all these long awaited and frequently requested slashers Code Red is releasing, it makes me wonder what other non-slasher titles are coming. I've heard The Dead Pit a long time ago, but haven't heard much since.

The Hazing is coming out too. Although, it's not really horror. :(
If you don't like boring, skip The Forest. And while The Forest is a better film than Woods, you'll probably be able to watch Don't easier. Although, Don't does get more boring towards the middle.

I liked The Forest. I thought it was a strong woods slasher... and really unique.
I thought The Hazing was on DVD- I have it. Unless it's another "The Hazing".

I liked it too. But in terms of boringness VS Don't Go in the Woods, The Forest takes it.
I love the opening scene, not to mention the flashbacks at the house. Good classic feelings. And the wolf noises. LOL, it gets a lot of flack. :(

I have to agree with you scab. the whole back story element of the wife and children brought the campy-ness full circle. I also like it because, even though I appreciate a good body count flick like Don't..., I also love an off the wall slasher like this that doesn't neccessarily get it's job done through gratuitous violence, but rather making the viewer rally for who ever's left.

This is great news! I've always loved The Mutilator. It's a shitty movie, but I LOVE shitty movies. :p

I used to hate it, but I appreciate the hell out of it now.
It has some really good death scenes too.
The hook in the crotch has to be classic by now.

oh absolutley! it's a damn shame...the crap they feed horror fans now is insulting.

That's why I dig so deep in the past for movies. I'd rather buy 8 shitty old movies in a week than 1 new one. I rarely buy new ones anymore because I'm tired of the disappointment.

I agree. The deaths/gore were great.....at least in the uncut version. The cut version is barely watchable, IMO.
Do you know when this is being released?
I don't think they've set one yet, but I could be wrong. scabboy probably knows..

Code Red does a good job getting ahold of the director for commentary... maybe even the trailer and hopefully a great widescreen transfer.

I have a feeling the next DVDs to come out are going to be Boardinghouse, Nightmare, and Love Me Deadly. I'd buy them all, just..hurry up already! Dratness! :)

In their defense it probably take s along time to acquire them, remaster them, gather extras and such.
this will probably be out by this time next year or a tad later.

Here's a video someone made on Youtube. It's the song By Sword, By Pick By Axe, Bye Bye from my favorite band, Frightmare. It's a pretty good video.

Someone also made one for Sleepaway Camp, using the song "Angela" in the background. There's also one for The Driller Killer, with the song "The Blood Runs in Rivers" being used. :)

There's going to be a convention in Ohio sometime in June that's have a Mutilator cast reunion. I'd like to be able to go for that.

I wanted to go to that con. Man, that would be awesome.... the only thing I'd like more than that is a full cast reunion of wither The Burning or Madman.

The Burning or a Madman reunion would be great too!

Looks like we'll be waiting ALOT longer for The Mutilator to be released on DVD. :( This message was posted over at Retro Slashers:
"By sword, by pick, by axe, bye bye DVD anytime soon! Some news to report, Buddy Cooper’s beach-side slasher is currently up in the air as to the particulars of its distribution. That’s not to say the DVD won’t happen someday, it’s just not in the very near future."

Firghtmare kicks ass. I've always wanted to make a Silent NIght, Deadly Night video for Slayride, given that SNDN's one of my alltime favorites. That video's pretty sweet.
I've actually never seen The Mutilator. I've wanted to for the longest time, but I just never could find it. I've always thought the deaths sounded really cool. Gotta love it when you can see Cannibal Corpse song titles come to life (and come to think of it, it seems that we have a cross between "Meat Hook Sodomy" and "Fucked witha Knife" here! :D) I always dug the cover art too. Too bad on the DVD.
I'm just glad that I have my Vipco release to hold me over for a while.

I have my DVDr to watch also, so i'm not completely without The Mutilator. :) I guess they're going Grindhouse Releasing on us, so we won't see this for another 3 years. :p
It just sucks that the Vipco release doesn't have the proper cover art:confused:

It's still in the queue as coming out, but who knows when.

Hmmm, this conversation was a while back and we still haven't seen the DVD get released. I just watched a DVDr of this that I picked up a while back and it was pretty funny. The picture quality wasn't very good but watchable. I thought the opening credits were hilarious.
