SCI FI Wire (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=42493&type=0) has posted an article about an up-coming series that NBC is gearing up to air that looks like a pretty interesting concept.

Chuck Makes A Dork A Hero

Zachary Levi, star of the upcoming NBC series Chuck, told SCI FI Wire that the show celebrates nerd culture and will appeal to those who may be "cool-challenged," a label he willingly applies to himself.

"Dork is definitely the new cool," Levi said in an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 17. "When I was in high school, I was, like, tucked away in a theater somewhere doing theater all the time. I wasn't like a jock. So I am Chuck in many, many ways."

In Chuck, Levi plays an ordinary tech-support clerk at a big-box retail store who becomes involved in the world of international espionage when a former college buddy e-mails him a computer program that downloads the entire national intelligence database directly into his brain. When the destination of the e-mail is discovered, the NSA and CIA each send an operative to protect the secrets Chuck possesses at all costs. Meanwhile, he must maintain the illusion of a normal life with his sister (Sarah Lancaster) and best friend (Joshua Gomez).

"I feel that the typical audience or the general audience that watches television can relate more to a Chuck than they can to a superhero, somebody that's really cool and really debonair and has all those powers," Levi said. "Chuck is just a schmuck. Chuck's a schmuck that can't get a date. I mean, that's really what it is. He's a great guy who really means well, and he cares about people, and he wants to fix people's computers to the best of his ability. But at the end of the day, he'll pee his pants if a gun gets pulled on him."

The character finds himself caught between two worlds, Levi added. "One is my home, regular life, and one is the espionage, spy life," he said. "And it's Josh and Sarah on the family life [side]. ... And then that balances perfectly with the contrast of Adam Baldwin and Yvonne Strzechowski, who are two amazingly talented and good-looking NSA and CIA operatives that are constantly pulling me away from the comfort of my home life into this crazy world that I know nothing about, and I'm a fish out of water. So you get a lot of comedy in both."

There are also hints in the pilot of a budding romance between Chuck and his CIA minder, Sarah, who finds his dorky, unassuming nature charming. "What's interesting about Chuck and Sarah is that we're really almost kind of the same person," Levi said. "We're very different in the sense that obviously she's a spy and can kick anyone's butt and can wield guns and drive cars and all [that] stuff, like, super cool. And I'm the polar opposite of that. But when it comes to normal life and fitting in a normal life, she's a CIA operative. She doesn't know what that's about. She's been on missions since she was 21. So I teach her a lot, and in the process there's this really interesting dynamic. And I think that'll play out, and that's how our love connection may start." Chuck premieres Sept. 24 and will air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT. (NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.) —Cindy White

A dork who gets the girl and Adam Baldwin as a CIA agent? I'm there.

I thought it was a pretty good show. I think it could be a hit.

I liked it. Next week's episode is titled "Chuck Vs. The Helicopter." The preview was enough. I guess I have to wait patiently until it comes on again Monday. I haven't watched Heroes because I still haven't seen the first season. Can't wait though.

Not sure if anyone has posted a thread for this yet, I searched and couldn't find one so...

Anyway, anyone watch this show? What do you think of it?

And most importantly... when the hell is season 2 showing in the UK! I need to see me some more of Yvonne Strahovski!

Hot stuff, and I'm not talking about Chuck. ;)

Season 2 has been pretty fuckin good so far. I love this show. I actually like it more than Heroes right now, which isn't anything new. However, it's been good so far.
ADDED:
So I just watched "Chuck Versus The Ex" and I have to say that it was a very well thought out episode and even better ending. I'm excited to know that Sarah is getting overly jealous about Chuck's old fling become a new flame and it shows that she indeed has feelings for him. I also can't wait to find out exactly what they end up doing once the CIA has a new intersect built. Do you think Chuck will make it out alive?

For fans of the show - NBC ordered a full 22 - episode run this season and since we're not even halfway through it, I can't wait to see where it takes us. I just hope that despite the falling ratings all around on the board (minus Smallville and Supernatural seem to be picking up viewers. hrm....) that they don't decide to cut this series.

Nothing with Adam Baldwin can fail.

Except Firefly.

And if you think about it - with the Cult following that show now has behind it and the additional re-releases of the DVD they've made for Serenity, that show in no way has failed anymore!

But Agent Casey kicks ass! THE FUCKING WAITER?! HAHAHAH

We Probably won't know about series 3 until later in the season. Close to March or April of next year. The ratings are good, being a lead in for Heroes, but it's not GREAT. They've already cancelled 2 shows for the fall so I can't imagine where they're going to go for boot next.

Bump.

I got turned on to this show at the end of season 3, and have seen most episodes of season 4 all on TV. I enjoyed what I saw so much that I went out and bought Seasons 1-3, watched every episode within a weeks tim, and am awaiting impatiently for season 4 to come out.

I'm even watching the dvds over again with my wife, she loves the show too. What pisses me off is when I fall in love with a show only for it to get cancelled. From what I've read, what was just on TV was supposed to be the last season, but a fifth season got ordered with only 13 episodes this time around. And the show is moving to Friday Nights as well. I'm bummed that the fan base for the show has diminished, IMO each episode makes the show better and better. It's too bad it gets only a half season and is then going bye bye. :(

I need to check the final episode count, but when it hits it's 13 episodes, has it had enough to be syndicated?

And let's face it, this was the little show that could. I don't know a show that got people to band together to save it not once but 3 different times!

I missed most of the 4th season. Loved the third. Cried at the end of it. Can't wait for 4 to be on DVD so I can see that!

I never heard that fans got together all three times to save the show, I just knew that it was stated that Season 4 would be the last which is why the final episode didn't seem to leave a cliffhanger. (One thing that pisses me off is shows not knowing they won't get renewed, leave a cliffhanger ending, and leave me upset over the cliffhanger never being resolved). I won't give specifics because I'm not sure if you've seen it, but the final episode made you happy with everything.

I read a month later that due to popular requests from fans, Chuck got a fifth season with a mere 13 episodes rather than the 19-24 most seasons of shows get.

Anyways, so it's good to know I'm not the only Chuck fan in here. How about posting our favorite Chuck quotes.

One of mine is from the first episode after Moran tells Chuck that Vicky Vale was in Buy More, and Chuck responds by singing out:

"Vicky Vale, Vic-Vic- Vicky Vale. Vickidy, Vicky Vale, Vic-Vic Vicky Vale."

I've been trying to find a ringtone of that line, no luck. :(

So Kane Hodder had a none speaking role in the second to last episode of last season... tonight's episode had Derek Mears as a prison inmate wanting to kick John Casey's ass.
