Some of his older work is pretty good, I have the Constrictor album and Brutal Planet.

I bought Brutal Planet the day it came out, I just happened to be in the music store... and I liked it right away.

My first exposure to Alice Cooper was in 1986 (at the age of 10) when I saw the one-sheet for Jason Lives in a small movie theater in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I was already a Friday fan, but I had never heard of Alice Cooper in my whole life. I thought, "Why is a girl doing music for Friday the 13th?" Remember... I was only 10. I saw the music video for "He's Back" later that summer, and my mind was opened....

That is really funny....and I can say the same thing happened to me...but I was only 8 y.o. and when I found out Alice wasn't a girl I got kinda disappointed....but then I heard the JL soundtrack....suddenly I was no longer disappointed at all. :D

Ouija board, you say? Hmmm. Rings a bell, oh yeah...

Okay, down to bidness... Along Came A Spider is delayed because Alice is waiting for a specific producer to be available, and that guy is working on something else right now. There seems to be enough material written to make a double album, but that's speculation right now. They project a Summer 2008 release.

More speculation? Word going around is this elusive producer could be Bob Ezrin (of earlier Coop fame, along with Pink Floyd and KISS), which would make me pitch a tent right here and now. :bang:

The Psycho Drama tour is winding through Europe now and headed into the States for some shows, but alas, no Western Canada dates yet.

Damn! That would be good news. Hope he makes it happen. I think Coop definitely has some fire left in him (a la John R. Cash). I personally can't wait.

Thanks for the news.

You can find this video on youtube somewhere I think, or on the VHS 'Video Trash'. MTV also didn't promote the Freedom video from Raise Your Fist And Yell, as with some of the vids from Hey Stoopid. Much Music in Canada seemed to play more Alice than MTV.

I own this Alice Cooper box set called The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper that has a four cd best of his entire career (and features the songs in Jason Lives) and it comes with a book too. It is damn awesome!

wow I forgot I haven't posted here yet

I enjoy Alice Cooper alot, but I would call myself a fan, especially compared to alot of members on this forum, Shoey comes to mind

Poison has my favourite lyrics to it as I've stated numerously, and Trash is my favourite album by him, I honestly never heard it until last May, I was at HMV lookin to buy the Quiet Riot album Metal Health that they had on special buy one get on free kinda thing, and I figured I'd get Trash as the "free" one, and even though I like more songs off Metal Health, the songs that I like off Trash I like a whole lot more

Shoesalesman
08-04-2007, 10:12 PM
Trash is a great release, Fonz. One of his more commercial albums, but a cool one nonetheless. :D

Rich... Life & Crimes, indeed, is a MUST HAVE for all die-hards, although it's pretty expensive. I like Hard Rock Summer, Look At You Over There Ripping The Sawdust From My Teddy Bear, and Hands Of Death (with Rob Zombie).

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!! Just got Coop tickets to see him on Sept. 13th. Yay!! This'll be the first time I've been able to catch him on tour since 1987!! That was my very first concert. Alice Cooper and Motorhead. Rocked my socks.

I can't wait. And, my buddy's mom works for the local radio station, so there is a possibility I'll get to meet the Man himself. Then, a week later, we go to see Van Halen. Which, while it could be incredibly cheesy, has the potential to be f'n awesome, if Roth can keep his trap shut, and his trunk out of the white powder.

Yeah, and I've only been waiting about 22 years. Well, if it happens, or not, I can't wait to see that show.

Now, I'm trying to think of what to lug along, to ask him to autograph - IF I do get to meet him. I've got my tour program from the 87 tour or some odd bit of vinyl (I'm thinking Flush the Fashion, but I'd love to be able to find a nice copy of DaDa, prior to the show).

Or, nothing, and just enjoy the experience.

Any thoughts?

You'll catch him in the most unusual places, this guy. He collects watches, and I remember seeing him at a local pawn shop last time he was here before he was whisked away again by his people. Some have commented that they've caught him at the mall, golf stores, he LOVES seeing what the local courses look like...

There's so many places he likes to go.

He told us he'll sign most stuff we have because he says it lowers the price of his signature on ebay. Go figure.

He signed my huge black wall flag (remember those from the 80s?), my Billion Dollar Babies Album, and my Hey Stoopid shirt that had stage blood on it from the previous tour.

Good fortune and happy hunting, mate.

Thanks, Shoe. Yeah, they've got some FANTASTIC golf courses in Myrtle Beach, so that probably explains it. That is pretty funny about the Ebay thing. Makes sense. I hear that is why Tom Waits despises giving autographs - aside from charity. That does have to suck to have to think, is this guys a fan, or is he trying to make a buck?" Some people will f' it up for all of us. :-)) I'll keep you posted, and send you a link to pictures (if I get to take any).

I wish I could meet Alice...almost did twice, once at a show in Niagara Falls at the Fallsview Casino, I was exchanging my American money into Canadian (at the casino) and the lady asked if I was there for the concert and told me that security told her Alice was out on the floor somewhere. I looked all over the place and could not find him. The second time I was on a radio show and had to go against some lady to try and get backstage passes to a show in Rochester, which they gave to the lady!! She cried which I think helped her, and she was older than me. I hope they have those meet and greet passes for sale next year, by then I should hopefully be able to afford them (I will be graduating from college this Spring, and soon thereafter should have a job).

But anyway I love Alice and have all of his CDs and DVDs along with some boots...and will see him again on the 19th w/ Heaven and Hell (Sabbath) at Darien Lake.

Good on ya, ss76. :D

Looks like Alice may take a break from touring in October, he just added some more dates in November.

Ex-guitarist, Damon Johnson, got up to do a tune or two last week with Alice and the boys - he was wearing a Merle Haggard shirt, obviously fully aware of what good music is. ;) He's doing some country music now.

Reminds me a bit of the old fridaythe13thfilms board situation, although not quite the same circumstances. :(

Anyway... I would LOVE the new Along Came A Spider tour to be like Brutally Live, in that the majority of the songs on Brutal Planet were used on the tour. I love the greatest hits tours, but a full-fledged NEW tour would be the cat's ass.

His voice was dubbed in Monster Dog because that was the only way he would agree to do the movie, he was not too thrilled about it and hoped that it would only get seen in some far off country.

I got it on dvd sometime ago, after having it on vhs for many years, I was also able to get "The Nightmare" on dvd, a rare 70's tv special with Vincent Price.

I think all of Alice's albums are great, Im very fond of the little known of ones, like DaDa, Zipper Catches skin, and Special Forces.

I'm also partial to Jackknife Johnny, Shoe Salesman, Raped & Freezin', Detroit City, Former Lee Warmer, I Love America, Pain... every album has a great rif, lyric, track, concept, whatever. I love 'em all.

BTW, Lethbridge just put up a fourth row seat on the floor on the City Of Lethbridge website. It'll be gone by the time I log outta here.

I would like to see Alice release a cd set with these never released tracks.

Dress (AC)

That one is something of a mystery. I have some hand written sheet music for this song with a few lyrics. I estimate it being written around pre-1970. I think it is credited to Alice Cooper on the sheet music and I think that indicates it was written by all five members (as in the songwriting for the songs on Pretties For You. Alice had no particular recollection of the title. I know of no recording of it.
(Renfield)

Hello, Is Anyone Home? (Cooper, Bruce, Dunaway, Buxton)

Also listed as "Anyone Home" No Further Info.

Frontal Labotomy (Dennis Dunaway, Glen Buxton)

Exists in very rough demo form only.

School's Back In

A "goofy" blues song by the original band.

Locked Up Lullaby (Alice Cooper/ Bruce Roberts)

This was co-written by Bruce Roberts and from the 'From The Inside' sessions. It was considered for the box but was deemed not crucial enough. The box was is kinda "ballad-heavy" already and this would have been yet another ballad. If Rhino were to do a special reissue of FTI, I wouldn't doubt that it could be included there.
(Renfield (paraphrased), December 1998)

This song was performed live on the US TV-show “TV Soundstage” in January 1979, with Bruce Roberts doing the vocals. This is the TV-show that also included Alice and Bruce Robets performing “Millie and Billie”, accompanied by a piano.

Menagerie - (Alice Cooper/Alan Lee Gordon)

An AWFUL song which was written and recorded in demo from around the time of Goes To Hell.

Don`t Blame It On Me (Alice Cooper/Robert William Athis (Kane Roberts))

This was written for Constrictor and recorded in demo form.

Drain The Vain (Alice Cooper/Robert William Athis (Kane Roberts))

This was written for Constrictor and recorded in demo form.

If You Don`t Like It (Alice Cooper/Kane Roberts)

Written for Constrictor and recorded in demo form.

Nobody Move (Alice Cooper/Beau Hill)

This was written for Constrictor and recorded in finished form. I (Renfield) have a test pressing of Constrictor that actually includes this song.

Bad Girl In Love

Raise Your Fist Period

Low Class Reunion (Alice Cooper/Desmond Child)

This was demo recorded for 'Trash' album but didn't make the final choice.

The Ballad Of Alice Cooper (Jon Bon Jovi/Alice Cooper?)

Demoed By both Jon And Alice around Trash.

'The Ballad of Alice Cooper' was actually demoed by Alice. Both Jon and Alice did their own respective demos of the song. Jon sang a verse and chorus of the song live on the Rockline radio show. IMO the title is rather lame. Titles of demos are easily and sometimes changed by the time they are done for an album.
(Renfield, October 1995)

The Ballad of Alice Cooper (Jon Bon Jovi)

Used to be a billion dollar baby
I used to be the eyes that made you scream
Used to be the one that I could talk to
But now there's something else [Alice?], there's you and me
I used to think I really didn't need you
But I used to think that only women bleed
And I ain't gonna cry no more
I've been to hell and back before
Watch me as I walk out the door
Because Alice doesn't live here anymore

Love Transfusion

Recorded by Iggy Pop for the 'Shocker' Soundtrack, Alice also recorded a demo of the song.

Take It Like A Woman (Alice Cooper/Desmond Child)

This was written for Hey Stoopid and not recorded. It is NOT the same song that appeared on 'Brutal Planet'.

Chemical Reaction (?)

Written and demoed for Hey Stoopid.

Your Love Is My Prison (Alice Cooper/Child)

This was written for Hey Stoopid and recorded in demo form.

If Fourth Street Could Talk (Alice Cooper/Dick Wagner/Tommy Caradona/Derek Sherinian)

This was written for Hey Stoopid and recorded in demo form.

Undergound ('Hey Stoopid')

Bad Angel ('Trash')

Aggrolat (Alice Cooper/Desmond Child/John McCurry/?)

Good Girl Gone Bad ('Trash')

I Dare You (Alice Cooper/Shaw/Blades)

This was written for The Last Temptation and recorded in demo form.

Invisible Strings (Alice Cooper/Shaw/Blades)

This was written for The Last Temptation and recorded in demo form.

Best Friend ('The Last Temptation')

Technophobia

Alice mentioned this one on June 1st 1998 in an interview for London`s X-FM.

Jezebel( Alice Cooper, Garric, Johnson, Morris, Roxie)

Unreleased song from the "Dirty Diamonds" Sessions

Alice Cooper Extended Versions

Shoe what is this ?

Extended versions is a taping of the Trashes The World video (the audio) on a CD. I highly recommend it.

One month until the new album, Along Came A Spider, is due in the US. The first track, Vengeance Is Mine, is out and about already.

Three more months until Coop comes to Alberta!!!!!!! :shy:

There's a site where you can hear the first 30 seconds of each song from Along Came A Spider. It's legit and okayed by management (NOT a leaked, illegal copy of the album), but I can't remember the site address. If I come across it again, I'll provide more information.

The album's getting a love-hate feeling on a few Alice sites. There doesn't seem to be middle ground; folks who've reviewed internet-leaked copies of the new album either REALLY love it or REALLY hate it.

Not sure what to take from this, but at the end of July I'll find out for myself. I've been offered illegal copies of the album, to which I refused. I'll hear it when it comes out in the stores.

The new album is good, at least IMO. I personally think it sounds almost like Dirty Diamonds recorded during the "lost albums" era.

I decided to listen to his whole discography one album at a time in order. My conclusion so far? Pretties and Easy Action are ok. Love It to Death and Killers are great. School's Out is actually kinda weak. Billion Dollar Babies is one of the greatest albums ever. Muscle of Love is weak. Welcome to My Nightmare is good. Goes to Hell is decent. Lace and Whiskey is...odd, I couldn't get into it. From the Inside is good. Flush the Fashion is good. Special Forces, Zipper Catches Skin, and Dada are all great, with Dada being one of my favorite Alice albums. I'm now on Constrictor, which is such a jarring depature from Dada. I like it though. Up next is Raise Your Fist and Yell.

My top three Alice albums:
Billion Dollar Babies
Dada
Trash

I really can't list my favorite songs, but I can say "It Rained All Night" is in my top five.

Along Came A Spider's been out for a week. A decent album, not profound by any means, seems to be geared more for the younger audience. It has a wicked tune (Vengeance Is Mine), a few of good rockers (The One That Got Away, Wake The Dead, I Am The Spider) and the rest fall into the "okay" category.

A good concept, still sounds a bit like Dirty Diamonds to me though. Worth the purchase.

All right, Cooper fans, explain.

In The Dirt, the first time Nikki Sixx met Alice Cooper he said that Alice opened the door and he walked out through a huge cloud of smoke. Nikki assumed it was weed (I assume), when Alice Introduced himself, yet in the next sentence in the book, he comments "it was only later that I figured out what that smoke was." Anyone know what this means?

Hopefully Alice Cooper isn't a hookah fan or something because that would make the story so much less interesting.

Shoesalesman
09-04-2008, 03:24 AM
When Sixx met Alice it was 1983 (or around there). Alice was making the Zipper Catches Skin album and one of the tracks was called Tag, You're It. During this song, he sings "You see a can, it's aerosol, you grab the hair spray and light it in his face."

Now the smoke could be from a "possible" prop used in the studio - Alice has used many props while recording (for example, using a straightjacket and being under a pile of folding chairs during Ballad Of Dwight Fry on the Love It To Death album).

Keep in mind I could be smoking some mean crack and have absolutely no idea if this is factual or not, but I too have pondered over this for a long while and this is the best I've come up with thus far.

Tag your it is a awesome song the song should of had a video or in one of the Halloween movies imo. Maybe one of Alices most underated songs he ever made maybe.

$10 handjobs, Fonz? They're at least $20 here. Damn!

Alot of folks don't like The Alice Cooper Show, including Alice himself from what I've read in interviews, but I love it. Prakash John on bass and Dick Wagner on guitar... deadly!!!!!!

funny, everything is usually more expensive in Toronto, and I found this sign right in Toronto too

I haven't listened to the whole album, though my dad does have it, but I prefer that version of Under My Wheels more than the originally recorded version...but it could be one of those cases where I just got too used to that version before hearing the original

that's like me and the Heavy Metal soundtrack version of Sabbaths The Mob Rules, sounds so much different and somewhat softer than the original album version yet back when I used to download songs I downloaded the wrong version and I'm hooked on that one

well I'm not huge on live albums by anyone really, I own a few like Kiss Alive 1-3 and GN'R Live Era '84-'93, I rally just like playing guitar along with the albums and pretending the crowd in the background is cheering for me, lol

Alice just finished up Las Vegas this weekend, three shows in the city of sin. UK tour starts at the end of November 09. If you get a chance, pick up founding Alice Cooper Group bassist Dennis Dunaway's Bones From The Yard. It's The Dennis Dunaway Project and they kick arse.

Here's one of the German adverts for Saturn with Alice as a bartender...

I love Alice Cooper. Certainly my level of fandom doesn't even approach many (or any) of you guys though.

I'm currently on a mission to get all the albums. Prior to this I really only owned compilation albums and the Life & Crimes set (which is my favourite CD box set ever).

I've got a long way to go yet.

School's Out (Vinyl)
Billion Dollar Babies (Vinyl)
Constrictor (Vinyl)
Trash (Vinyl)
Brutal Planet (CD)
Dragontown (CD)
The Eyes of Alice Cooper (CD)
Dirty Diamonds (CD)
Along Came a Spider (Vinyl)

Currently waiting on Hey Stoopid and Raise Your Fist and yell on Vinyl to arrive.

I saw him once, the Glasgow show in the Dirty Diamonds Tour. I'm not ashamed to say I cried when certain songs were played.

Does your Schools Out have the Ladies Underwear inside wrapping the record ?

Raise Your Fist and Yell is the most ubderrated album in music history that album is perfect.Hey Stoopid is a great improvement over Trash.

And if i may ask why cry was the songs that bad ? Ive been a Alice fan for 22 years and have never cried over any of his songs. Maybe i cry in pain when i have to listen to anything off of Trash.

I've always been an Alice Cooper fan. While I do really like his 70's material, I do have to admit that i've always somewhat preferred his albums from the 80's. Raise Your Fist and Yell is definitely my favorite....i've always considered that one to be his absolute best. Their isn't a bad song on it.

I haven't really kept up with him in awhile, however. I haven't heard any of the songs off his newer albums.

Raise Your Fist And Yell 87 is my favorite Alice album followed by Constrictor 86 then Nightmare 75 etc. Raise Your Fist is the most under rated album in rock history IMO. Freedom is a great song so anti PMRC.Prince Of Darkness ,Time To Kill, Chop,Chop,Chop, Gail ,Roses On White Lace and Lock Me Up which have Freddy Krueger in them. The only song i dont like out of the 10 is Not That kind of love.

The production wasn't so good on L&W, but great songs like Road Rats, It's Hot Tonight, My God, King Of The Silver Screen saved it from being a "below average" release.

King Of The Silver Screen freakin rules Alice should of released a single for this song in the day.Wish he would perform it live.

Wish Alice would just release a live studio album with all the rare gems like Black Ju Ju , King Of The Silver Screen ,Tag Your It, Lock Me Up ,Time To Kill, Great American Sucess Story etc.

I thought there was suppose to be another Alice album of previously unreleased material ? Nothing yet i would love to get a hold of unreleased material from 85-95.

3 Alice Cooper songs i would like to get but will never get.

1971 So Happy Together Live

1991 Generation Landslide Live LA, Utah

2009 Pinball Wizard on Rock Band VH1 sadly i can get a version let alone a full version of it sad.Ive called VH1 id gladly pay for the whole song it was Alice vs Sebastian Bach who was covering a Cheap Trick song.

My four year old daughter is becoming a Coop fan it seems. She loves the song "Fresh Blood". We'll get in the car and she starts singing "Fresh blood! Fresh blood!" until we put the song on. Once it's on, no one is allowed to talk until it's over and then she says "That's my favorite song!". I'm starting to play the rest of Dada (my favorite album of his) for her.
