Who's your favorite hero or archnemesis in the horror movie world?

Ash- I liked him in all three films.
From whimp to hero.

I like Nancy Thompson. Her and Freddy had a special relationship.

Laurie Strode... a more productive hero (at least in actually stopping Myers) than Dr. Sam Loomis, by the way.
But I do love my Ripley as well.

Nancy, it really got to me when she died.

It's rough to pick between Loomis and Ash, but I'll go with Ash.
For a more traditional horror hero, it'd be Loomis.

This choice is hard as Hell, but I voted for Dr. Loomis.

I have to say other, just because there are so many. It's impossible to name one, but I will say that Stretch in TCM 2 up there.

I said Tommy Jarvis. The man's done it all. He's killed Jason in human form, as a child, mind you. He killed an equally dangerous Jason imposter as a teenager using only gravity and a Case knife, and he put the all-powerful zombie Jason into his watery grave, which could've been considered a suicide mission. He is truly Jason's arch enemy. For second, third, and fourth place, I'd say Ash Williams, Dr. Loomis, and Ellen Ripley. "Get away from her, you BITCH!"
I like all of those characters, but I went with Dr. Loomis.

I'm torn between Ash and Reggie.

I wish this poll was multiple choice. I would have chosen both Dr. Loomis and Tommy Jarvis. However since I can only pick one, I choose Dr. Loomis. The man chased death until he couldn't chase death no more. I gotta give him credit for that.

Dr. Loomis. No contest. Donald Pleasence is a legend, and that character was just as important to the Halloween films as Michael Myers was/is.
ADDED:
I like Ripley!
Have you seen her new Direct TV commercial? They have Weaver talking about Direct TV while she fights the Alien Queen from Aliens.

I've seen it twice tonight. I didn't realize what it was the first time I saw it. It really is pretty cool!

I saw that a few days ago. I was like "are they dubbing her voice". When I realised what was happening, (and no dubbing) I said, "Go Weaver!"

Dr. Loomis....no doubt about it.

Loomis...
He went through some things trying to take Michael out.

Loomis is my favorite. Although I accidently voted for other because the first time I read it I must of overlooked his name.
Take care and God bless.

Tommy Jarvis.
I like Nancy because she really became a stronger person through her battle with Freddy.
Nancy, it really got to me when she died.
Sums up my feeling perfectly

Ash. Took on the whole bloody Army of Darkness for God's sake. Most of these other guys have trouble with one horror fiend. Not Ash. Micheal, Jason, Freddy, the Tall Man, and numerous others would go down like a bunch of swizzle sticks.

Loomis, that guy was hardcore. Also love Ash and Reggie.
Kirsty is a fantastic character but with Hellseeker now out, I think her hero status has been somewhat compromised! Good ole Pinhead, gotta corrupt the best of them.

After recently screening Phantasm 2 and 3, I'd also have to add to my vote that Reggie is one kick ass motherf***er. The "Quad-Barrel Dwarfcutter" shotgun is probably the most kick ass piece of weaponry I've ever seen next to Ash's chainsaw arm and the golden Sentinel Spheres.

You guys are seriously leaving Kincaid from NOES3-4 from this discussion?
"Da fuck you will!"
Anyway, yeah, my favorite is Kincaid.

It was hard to vote for just one, but ultimately I chose Dr. Loomis. He never relented over the course of five films in trying to stop Michael Myers.
Nancy and the Alien/Aliens Ripley were very close though.

I'm going with Ash since I love the Evil Dead films & am a huge Bruce Campbell fan.
Second would either go to Reggie Bannister or Dr. Sam Loomis.
Apocalypto

I'd go with Juno from The Descent because of how flawed yet strong she is, and Taggert from Jeepers Creepers 2 for his overwhelming bad-assery of taking on a supernatural predator with nothing but a truck and some spears.

He had the greatest homemade harpoon gun in the world on his side!
I think...Reggie.

I love how Dr. Loomis actually got close to Michael on numerous occasions, and he definitely knew Michael better than anyone else, and Michael never killed him. They blew him up in part 2, gave him a heart attack/stroke in part 5, let us hear him screaming in part 6's theatrical cut, but in the end, Michael wasn't the death of Loomis. He died of old age. Now that's hardcore. He stared into the monster's eyes more than once, and Michael couldn't do him in.
However, I voted for Nancy because I love Heather Langenkamp, and I think she had one of the better "helpless girl turns into tough girl when faced with unspeakable evil" stories in horror movie history.
