Well, what is it? :)
I always liked the remake. Yes, I know....remake? Remake and like do not usually go in the same sentence together, unless separated by the word dis....which doesn't make sense. >.> Vote peoples!

Almost like my list... although I put TB after 4 and 2003 after 2 and 3.

I haven't seen the beginning nor have I watched TNG all the way through, but I even if I had I doubt it would change my opinion. The original is the best.
The original is the best hands down. Part 2 is fun in a silly way. Part 3 is probably the best sequel to the original. The remake is a good movie. The Next Generation and The Beginning both sucked.

The photography in the original ALONE makes the others pale in comparison. That movie had some of the best photography that I have seen in any horror movie.
To put them in ranking order:
Original
Remake
Leatherface
Part 2
Beginning
Next Generation

I agree 100%. Not only the photography, but also the set decoration inside the house. The "look" of the original Chain Saw is as important to that movie as the music was to the original Halloween, it was simply everything.

Like in most film series, nothing can top the original!
The music, the visual aspect... the movie is just damn near perfect.

It really was. I don't know about ANY film because I think the atmosphere iN A Clockwork Orange is up here along with the atmosphere in Jacob's Ladder, Platoon and Taxi Driver.
But, for amateurs, they knew how to photograph a horror film.

Definitely the 1974 original, followed by the highly underrated (in my view) Leatherface: TCM III.

Me too. I liked the dark humor they added in it. Most people hated that, but that's one of the things I liked about it.
The original is definitley the best.

My rankings:
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) - One of my favorite films of all time and one of the best horror films ever made.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 - A fun movie, yet not on par or nowhere near as great as the original.
Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 - Somewhat entertaining sequel.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003 Remake) - Meh...
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - Double meh...
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation - Triple meh. Poor excuse for a film.

I'm surprised 3 doesn't have any votes. you've got Ken Foree, Hodder doing stunts, and a cool looking chainsaw.
anyone who votes for part 4 should be hanged on a meat hook.

i love III a lot, just like the first more.
I thought III was great, pretty much a remake but a good story, funny, violent, and gory.

The original and the remake are pretty much tied with me. They're both really good movies and different enough from one another to not feel unique and not like, well, an original movie and its remake.
In order to place my vote, I went with the original because without it, there couldn't have been a remake. Also, while the remake is a great film (it least I think so), it will never be as infamous or culturally significant as the original.
So... Original, Remake, Beginning, 2, 3, Next Generation
The photography in the original ALONE makes the others pale in comparison. That movie had some of the best photography that I have seen in any horror movie.
Yes sir, I agree.
My rankings:
The Original, one of the greatest horror films of all time.
Part 2, is an underrated classic! "I'm the lord of the harvest!" "What's that? Some new health food bunch?"
TIE: Leatherface III, definitely one of my all time favorites. and TCM03, a very well made and worthy film, beautifully shot.
The Beginning, could have been better, had a golden opportunity for an off the wall dinner scene but pissed it away.
TNG, I usually find something in the entries I'm not fond of, but this movie has not a damn thing for me. Matthew is far too over the top, Renee is a whiny wet rag, Leatherface is the most stupid I've ever seen him. Wayne Bell's return to score is about the only thing I like, but it's not enough to make me buy the DVD.

My rankings:
TCM74 (one of the most terrifying films ever)
TCM2 (one of my personal favourites, Chop-top rules)
TCM-Beginning (best horror movie of this year)
TCM Remake (good remake, but feels rather tame to the others)
TCM 3 (mediocre)
TCM4 (one of the worst movies ever)

The original is probably the most enjoyable for me, followed by Leatherface Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, only because I thought it had more of an impact and tension on being a "true" sequel, versus The Next Generation which I thought was humorous, but just plain stupid on the same hand. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 had some good silly humor as well, but I think lacked in some ways because of it, but definately the Chainsaw fights between Dennis Hopper and Leatherface were a blast and I can never get Stewart Copeland's "Strange Things Happen" out of my head during the end credits.

I always thought Part III was more of a remake than a sequel, and Jeff Burr was basically "re-creating" the franchise from his own words.

There's uncut TNG going around, I believe that cut was released on DVD in Region 2. I have a VHS with the title "Return Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". I don't know if it's uncut, I never watched it.

I just watched The Beginning again for the first time since I saw it in theaters, and it holds up okay. Sort of by the numbers and a bit bland, which would put it 5th for me in the series (right before TNG), but that's not really a bad thing because I think the first two and the remake are damn fine films, while part 3 and The Beginning are good little popcorn flicks. And TNG...well... :X
My rankings are:
original
remake
Leatherface: Part 3
Part 2
The Beginning
Timberwolf Entertainment

The remake is superior to all of them as a film. But, not as groundbreaking as the original was back in 1974
I don't think you can compair the original with the remake. They are way too many years apart. What makes the original better then the remake? If 30 years from now, the original will still be a bone afide classic American film and the remake will be remembered (only among the horror fan base) as "just another one of those."
