I just love this book so much! I've probably read it 7 or 8 times since I was in junior high after my best friend, Jeff, suggested I read it after telling him I wanted to read something scary.

As much as I like Stephen King's stuff (well, his good stuff, he's pretty hit and miss) I've not yet read Salem's Lot, Pet Sematary, The Stand, or The Shining. I really need to do that when I finish the pile of books in my reading list.
I thought Salem's Lot was great. I've read it a couple times myself.
I agree with BlakeTyner though to a degree.
I've found a lot of his stuff overthe past few years to be hit or miss.
Right around the time of Gerald's Game and Rose Madder I started to notice a definate shift and found myself more than a little disappointed with some of his stuff.
This book was [almost] a scene for scene re-write of Stoker's Dracula.

Hey BlakeTyner, you owe yourself the pleasure of reading Pet Sematary. It's probably my favorite book. The Shining and The Stand are both great as well.
On topic, I also love this book. I read it probably the quickest of any King novel, except Pet Semetary.

I completely agree. Bag Of Bones and Hearts In Atlantis were disappointments to say the least. Dreamcatcher had a flicker of hope before fading away.
'Salem's Lot was an excellent book. I read it for the first time in grade seven and every few years I dust it off and read it again.

Two great examples.
I was also disappointed with From a Buick 8. It was just way too long and slower than molasis.
I think it could have worked MUCH better as a short story.
I'm sort of expecting the same thing with Blaze, King's newest novel under the Bachman name.
It was one of his first attempts at writing a full novel years before he did Carrie. I think it's more of a crime novel. I remember him talking about it in either an interview or Danse Macabre, something I read years ago.
Unless he went back a did a rewrite before publishing it as a newly discovered Bachman book, I don't expect anything supernatural in it at all.

'Salem's Lot is awesome! I love this book. Stephen King is one of my favorite authors. I read 'Salem's Lot for the first time my freshman year in high school. Thoroughly enjoyable.

'Salem's Lost is definitely one of my favorite books of all time. The pace of this book is remarkable, I've re-read it in 2 days once.
