Variety reports that producer Warren Zide, whose credits include the FINAL DESTINATION films and Joe Dante's upcoming BAT OUT OF HELL, has picked up a horror/comedy spec script called THE HARVARD ZOMBIE MASSACRE. Written by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, it's about a battle between the brainy students of the titular university and the equally intelligent ghouls that have overrun their campus. A director has yet to be signed for the project, which is scheduled to begin filming in early 2009.

I'm intrigued. If it goes theatrical, I will be seeing it.

God, I am so tired of zombie movies.

Hopefully this will be one of the very few good ones.

I never tire of zombie movies... mind you, I'm very selective about the ones I watch these days. I only see them if there's some sort of interesting hook (or if they're a Romero film). Movies like Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies, Fido, Zombie Honeymoon, Wild Zero; those are the sorts of zombie films I crave these days. That's why this film interests me -- it isn't just the typical shambling zombie film.
