I looked 3 times and couldn't find a thread on this. If there is one for the remake, I couldn't find it.

From Bloody-Disgusting:

It was revealed in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly that Sony Screen Gems plans on remaking Tom DeSimone's 1981 horror-slasher Hell Night, which follows four college pledges who are forced to spend the night in a deserted old mansion where they get killed off one by one by the monstrous surviving members of a family massacre years earlier for trespassing on their living grounds. But here's the sad news, "If you are going to make a movie for a bunch of kids, you have to make it PG-13,” says Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper. “You try not to make a movie for an audience that is older than your protagonist.” More PG-13 coming your way in the near future.

LOL......I knew this was coming. Again, though, the original isn't gory at all.
ADDED:
Wow......noone seems interested. LOL. That's odd.

The movie has a PG13 feel to begin with.

I LOVED the original. It was fun.
Doesn't need a remake. Then again, what does?

Wake me up when "Blood Night" is released...until then, I'll skip the modern "Hell Night".

Well, the thinking is that 15 and 16 year olds would be able to get into a PG-13 film alone, and slasher protagonists are often high school-aged; still, it's a horeshit reason to make a film PG-13 because R-rated slashers have thrived for quite a while now.

As for Hell Night, the original's not that bloody, but I don't want this watered-down slashers trend to continue. Of course, they could get my mind off the rating by actually making the film good.

Well, now you're just asking for too much. Didn't you know that the studios know what is good for us, and they will tell us what we like and don't like. And right now, we absolutely love watered down slashers with sub par writing/acting/directing.

But you can be sure that they'll dazzle us with a glossy finished product. Because that is what we like. >:(

Well god bless Screen Gems for submitting once again, another remake of the 1980's slasher genre, but at a PG-13 standard. The original Hell Night, distributed by Compass International, only made $2,300,000 domestically, and hopefully this remake sinks in the box office waters as well!

If you didn't know by now, Bloody-Disgusting is about as reliable as a screen door on a submarine.

Wel, I have heard about that, but the Hell Night news is on Fangoria, Entertainment Weekly, as well as numerous others.

Eh, it's more of an inside joke than anything.

I see that the original article actually cites Entertainment Weekly as a source, so that's alot more credible than they usually are.

Added: Bloody hell, I just realized that the "not making a protagonist older than the audience excuse" is rubbish. How many college pledges are under 17 years old (the required age to be admitted to an R-rated picture)?

That reminds me, I just wondered if people over sixty were the target audience for Rambo.

Good point there, too.

I guess since Star Wars is about a 19 year old kid, small children shouldn't watch it. :X
ADDED:
Also, somebody better notify WB to go ahead and make The Dark Knight R-rated because you know, kids don't care to watch anyone older than them.

Shoulda sighted them then cause anytime I see something from B-D, I just laugh and go on. I've had dreams more reliable than B-D.

What are you talking about Tally? Kreddy will return to the big screen. I have confirmation from Mr. Disgusting himself. He says that Kreddy will return for the remake and that it will pwn the original film.

Damn, you are psychic. You could be rich with those reliable dreams of yours.

Hopefully this is reliable reality.

And Mr. Disgusting gave 15, no... 10.... 10 reasons as to why it will be better than the original. They know what they speak of.

Despite considerable evidence to the contrary, presumably, this is legitimate. Why wouldn't it be? Everything else is getting remade.

Whether this is gospel right this very second is beside the point. It will happen regardless.

They need to get Linda Blair to be in it and she could jiggle her titties again as she did in the original.

I like the decapitation in the original.

this will easily beat the original.

and the PG-13 rating i agree with. this dont need gore, it just need creepy scenes and jump scenes.
