How do you connect to the internet? I used to use DSL, but when I moved I switched to cable. I like cable a lot more.

Not sure if I can afford it either :(

My wife does school on the internet and she has times tests, if the net disconnects during a test she can fail it.... so we have to have something that stays connected.

DSL. I can't really complain about it so that's why I never switched to cable.

I've got cable, but it's not the superfast, I can view internet videos (not youtube) cable. More like the "Hey it's cheap so why not" kind of cable.

I used to have Time Warner Roadrunner which is wicked fast compared to what I have now. Of course it was like $25 more also.

DSL.

Is DSL that much more than dial up in the States?

Gringo Loco

Here in the US, DSL is usually $14 or more than dial-up, depending on the speed.

Comcast Cable.

Although when working, my work laptop has Verizon satellite. Very convenient.

Cable...I just spent two-weeks on a island with dial-up and I can imagine going back to that.

I have cable internet through Road Runner. Really fast & hardly ever messes up.

Shitty dial-up because that's basically my only option right now. I live in the mountains; cable hasn't reached us yet and I'm not sure about DSL. I've been looking into Hughes Net. Has anyone heard any good or bad things about that?

You should get Satellite Internet, Cho. Most providers like to cap their clients (only 350MB of download per 24 hours at a friend's house) but it's still better than dial-up.

Anyhow, I use low end DSL (so low end that I have to let YouTube videos stream in full before I can watch them.)

I've heard that satellite internet is really expensive, but that's about all I've heard about it. You should definately look into DSL, Choko. We couldn't get high speed out here for the longest time (because cable lines don't run out here), but we can get DSL.

Cable via Optimum Online. With a name like that, you know the shit is dope.

I really need to check about something different. This Dial-Up really isn't cutting it anymore.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hope you can get cable, ChoKo. Cable internet is great and better than Dial-up in every way. I don't wish dial-up on my worst enemy.

I also forgot to mention earlier that I use cable internet via a router, as I usually access the internet via my Notebook computer.

ChoKo

I can't get cable, currently, because it's not available up here in the mountains. :(

I'm gonna check into DSL or Sat. I'm sure at least one is available in my area; I know sat is, but I'm not sure about DSL. (I'd rather have DSL.)

I connect three different ways...through DSL when I'm at my moms, using her computer, when I'm on my laptop I'll usually connect through Wi-Fi, but if there's no signal, I'll just use dial-up via my Dad's AOL account.

Speck

Are any of you guys still using dial up?

SlasherFreak

Do desktops still even have phone line jacks in them?

The last 2 laptops I bought didn't even have anywhereI could plug a phone line into.

nottidelterrore

I have to steal wi-fi since I don't have the extra cash to get a connection just yet. I'll probably go the route of DSL once I do.
