The trailer released at E3 was amazing and I want the game RIGHT NOW!!!!.

It's bad cause one half the time I can never get any of my friends over to do some co op. But it's also been a complete hassle for me to do it with Gears aswell. Teaching my gf how to play both has been it's only reward. She's a crack shot with a sniper rifle.

Well it's nine levels divided up into chapters ala Gears of War. That only had 5 levels and took about 10 hours to complete. So...I'd say atleast 10 to 15 hours. And reading up on how the A.I acts Legendary will be fucking brutal on your own. H2 took me about 20 hours by myself...and all the restraint not to toss my controller at the tv.

So, I'm debating whether or not I should wait outside EB, where I pre-ordered it, or go to a best buy and wait. I fucked over with the 360 by gamecrazy so not sure what I should do. Midnight luanch at my gamestop was pretty huge. The line wrapped around the building. At about 130 people by midnight. I got there around 930 and it was past the store windows of the plaza. So I was around 50ish in line. So I froze for 2 1/2 hours, and played some new super mario on my DS to kill time. It went smoothly and I'd say they had around 20 Legendary ed. stocked. I got mine around 1230, and was home by 1. Opened it....seriously the coolest fucking thing ever as far as game goodies go. So I popped in the game looked over the menues and such, the maps and kinda wondering if they will be doing a remake of Bloodgulch since it isn't in the game... :(


But before I even play I have to finish up Bioshock for the tonic achive. And then go full on into this beast.

Anyhoo, damaged discs are nothing new. TV Box Sets are particularly risky. Amazon.com has even added a warning to most DVD box set pages warning that discs might come loose and end up floating around in the case, and they will replace the discs for free should they get damaged (floater discs don't always get damaged).

At least it's not as bad as the UK edition of the first series of Doctor Who. Those DVD cases are notorious for falling to pieces entirely, due to the use of weak, cheap glue.

Man, you're right about that. My Airwolf disc cases almost all have missing tines to hold the DVD in the package...stupid cheap Universal.

The thing that sucks about the "replacement program" is you have to pay for shipping and send it off FIRST. So now only did you pay $70+ for your LE Halo 3, you also get to pay an additional say $5+ (depending on how fast/heavy/big your package s and when you want it to get there) Then, not only were "you" waiting for the last few year, and hours in line, now have to wait like ANOTHER 7-10 + BUSINESS DAYS (I'm assuming as most stuff through them or other companys take awhile to get yours, log it, then send out your replacement).

Luckily I'm not one who paid for the LE and just got the regular version. Also it's not scratched thankfully. I really do feel and totally agree with all the anger and frustrations "you" or whomever might be having to go through this because it does just out right sucks... BIG TIME! I think Microsoft should send the replacement disc FIRST (provided you can give them your credit card info so they can bill you for the copy untill you send the damaged one or bill you after so many days if your damaged on doesnt get set back). That way your not waiting for them to receive and they can also include something with paid shipping so you can send the damaged disc back, or at least credit you for shipping with microsoft points or a check for the shipping charges?

Which I'm sure they thought about and it crossed their minds, but the people/kids who wouldn't send the game back and microsoft loses even more money are the one's the ruined it for everyone else to get this done easier.

Or, microsoft could send replacement disc's to some of the store and can be swapped out there. THat way your not waiting longer and or having to pay more money for this game.

I didn't mean it as a "ha ha you got screwed" because I could have been one of those people as I was almost about to get the LE just for the case but ended up not getting it, now glad I didn't.

True we have other games, but while everyone is playing H3 and your just waiting kind of sucks. THat's why I ended up getting it (well had my friend get it when he went to the midnight release) because I was online playing Madden then everyone just started to pop on playing H3, so I just gave in and had him get it for me (which I paid him for anyways). So I would have been contempted to play Madden while waiting it would have sucked. It sucks even more for people who just plays Halo and not wanting to go back to H2 just to get their fix while I'm sure the numbers for that have dropped increadibly.

I got my sister a double DVD pack for Christmas. She opened it to find that one of the discs was floating and had a scratch. It's annoying, but it's nothing to get pissed over. Of course I've done my fair share of moaning over floater discs in the past, but nothing short of Microsoft refusing to do something about the issue could justify the level of hostility I'm seeing elsewhere on the 'net because of this mishap. You'd think some of these people just saw a loved one violated. To be honest, it's not half disturbing. Some of these people appear on the verge of riot, and all because of a scratched disc.

I'll probably be waiting another year, possibly longer, to play Halo 3. The same goes for Metroid Prime 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 5, Silent Hill 5 -- I don't expect to have any of those anywhere near their release date, and I've been waiting just as long as everyone else. MS is replacing the discs for free.

Beat the game on normal in about 7 hours time. Going through it again on Heroic, then Legend. As for the story closer, alot of plot twists and then backstabbing. The new flood forms...sweet christ what a pain in the ass. Overall I like how it ended. And if you didn't whatch through to the end credits do so.

I'm not completely satisfied to be honest. I want actual closure to the chief, I mean, they are lost and people still need to find him. They kinda left it at, what happens when he wakes up? I liked the ending, but if this is the last game with Master Chief, they should have ended it differently. Overall though, great game. I still think its ridiculous how you can't search for custom game types, like wanting to play infection. And whats the point of Forge if you can only play people that you know, you'd have to send out a lot of damn invites, and a lot of people don't accept them. If they fixed that, I would give Halo 3 a perfect 10.

I've got a friend at Game Stop who explained to me exactly how the cases are damaging the game. If you got it at Game Stop -- which I'm sure a lot of people did -- just take it back to Game Stop. They're taking discs out of the Regular Editions and sticking them in the Limited Edition for folks who purchased the game at their store. You don't have to wait for Microsoft if you're a Game Stop customer.

Before I go on, Bio, isnt Valhalla the new bloodgultch? Sure seems that way to me, I dont see them making another bloodgultch/coagulation with that map around.

I loved the campaign so much, I felt it was so much better paced than the first two that I never got bored or wanted to put the damn thing down. Once you get about halfway through and nearly every level begins with a vehicle battle of some sort, its just fun as hell. I did have some AI issues, which is real odd for a series known for its AI but there were times where my AI teammates didnt know where they were going or just didnt drive when I was being the gunner.

I wish I stayed through the credits, I had no idea there was more. As it was I thought the ending was weak as hell, but knowing what I know now, it sounds pretty cool. For the first time ever, I actually gave a shit about Halo's storyline and one of my favorite bits is after you rescue Cortana, you're escaping the ship and Cortana goes something like "I'm picking up a signal, but who would be crazy enough to come down here??" and as you climb over one of the last hills, there the fucking Arbiter, standing at the top of a hill, kicking ass.

Bungie really did a great job and made this a great closing chapter, its a shame its the last. I want more Chief!

I can relate to this. Everything is such a double edged sword, I remember debating what the hell to do when the Wii came out. If I got a chance to pre-order online, do I do that and get it for sure, but get it a week to ten days after it comes out due to shipping? Do I hope I can get one at the store on launch date? I ended up having to camp to get one.

The problem here is Walmart is the only game store and they don't put shit out on the day it comes out unless it's huge like Halo 3. So, conversely, this winter, do I pre-order Super Mario Galaxy? Do I hope the store gets it? It's such a fucking pain in the ass because video game love seems to last even less than movie love, that shit is talked about the week, maybe 2 weeks after it comes out tops, then they move on to the next thing. I have The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on pre-order, so you can bet your bottom dollar Wal-mart will have it on Wednesday and I'll be waiting for ten days after that. But, I saved about $5 so I can wait. Plus I've bought 21 PSP, 3 DS, 2 GBA and 1 PS2 and 1 Wii game in the last month... :cry:

As for Halo in general, I have never played it and won't talk much shit about it until I do, but all the gameplay videos I have seen look just so average, I am having trouble finding what is so appealing in it all. Gears looks awesome and makes me want a 360, but Halo just looks like every other FPS I've seen. And I think those suits look really stupid. :duh:

Well, Master Chief did it.

For those who remember when Halo 2 was released, Microsoft claimed that it was the biggest event in entertainment history, ever, since the beginning of humanity. It made $125 million in just 24 hours, besting the previous title-holder (I guess?) the original Pirates of the Caribbean.

Spider-man 3 swooped down and stole that crown from Microsoft on release by making $151 million, and although most people were banged right in the cooter on that one, Sony didn't mind flaunting it.

So you know that Gates is all smiles this week, because Halo 3 curb stomped Spidey and gravity hammered his emo ass all the way back to Queens.

The game made $170 million in the first 24 hours in the U.S. alone. God. Damn. Course, those excessive Legendary editions probably helped push that price up, and they're going to be hurt by all the scratched Limited edition discs (I got one too!) being recalled, but I'm sure everyone involved in this launch has wet their panties over that figure.

In fact, Microsoft Game Studios corporate vice president Shane Kim had this to say. "Not only is Halo 3 setting sales records, it's also redefining entertainment. Within the first 20 hours alone, we've seen more than a million Xbox Live members come online to play Halo 3--that makes September 25 the most active Xbox Live gaming day in history."

Not so sure about redefining entertainment, but the game is damn fun. The campaign mode leaves a little to be desired, but online is still crispy smooth as ever, provided you can find a group of people who are cool and don't call you a faggot because you don't know where the rocket launcher is.

Once you do though, you'll see just how polished this game is. People are going to be playing this one for a long, long time.

HALO MAKES MORE MONEY THAN GOD

Thus solidifying the fact that Halo 3 will go down as the most overrated game ever (on my own personal list of overrated games.) I'm glad something finally booted Ocarina of Time out of the number 1 spot.

Not that it's a bad game. By all accounts, it's really good (I'm only just playing the first Halo, so I'm a ways off from knowing for sure), but good god damn. $170 million in 24 hours? That's just a stupidly high amount of money.

Of course it helps that the game cost at least double or triple the cost of a ticket to see Spider-Man 3. I'm sure if a ticket for that film had cost what Halo 3 costs, the film would have made quite a bit more than Halo 3.

Of course it helps that the game cost at least double or triple the cost of a ticket to see Spider-Man 3. I'm sure if a ticket for that film had cost what Halo 3 costs, the film would have made quite a bit more than Halo 3.

But how many people would have spent $60+ on seeing Spiderman 3? Plus S3 picked up a lot of 'peripheral' viewers. If my nephew wants to see a film both his parents and his sister go too. That's 2 adult tickets and 2 child ones. If I wanna see a film I take Lisa with me. Doesn;t mean she wants to see it, just means that they tag along.

However, people have been known to buy one game between a whole household. A mate at uni lived in a house with 4 other guys, who would chip in and get a game between them. All abalances out I would think.



And the faulty disks are not in any way Microsofts fault. Do you think Gates owns a load of disk-packing factories? It's all done by a different company. Microsoft are replacing them for free, and in less than a month. They're losing money on this, and I can guarantee that they're all sitting there frustrated as hell that something they spent a lot of time and money on is turning up broken because some moron can't do his job right.

You can't really compare a movie opening to a video game sales release. It's like apples and oranges. They're both fruits/entertainment, but still two completely different things. When you go to a movie you are usually going with someone else if not a bunch of friends, family, kids, your kids friends possibly. Either way you have more people going each having to pay per person. With the video game usually you have like 1 per household, everyone in your house plus all your friends and their friends n family can all come to your house to watch the 1 product you bought. Your also paying a one time fee vs going to watch the movie and having to pay per each viewing at a theater untill it comes to DVD then you can buy it "once" and then watch as many times as you want and so on. Either way I believe it was successfull.

As for the 640p screenshot claims. Whatever :rolleyes: :yap::shush: All it is, is a bunch of rubbish from a bunch of rubbish Sony fanboys that just look for ANYTHING no matter how SMALL it is to try and bring it down because their mad, jealous, could only WISH they had it on their oh so "powerfull", precious $500-$600 dust collecting paper weight! What I'm trying to say is "get a life" to those people who have nothing better to do then take pictures with a digital camera and enlarge, adjust, photoshop, whatever it is they do just to count pixels, "steps", and or what not, just so they can bad mouth the 360, a very successfull game on the 360, a very POPULAR game on the 360, because it's sponsored or made by the people behing the 360 "Microsoft". Ok, in all seriousness. It's ridiculas to be honest. The slightest things these people look for just to prove something? Halo 3 may be 640p, maybe it's just some cut scenes? Maybe it's 720p, or 1080i, 1080p? Who really cares? Because the best comment I've seen elsewhere about the issue "SOMETHING THATS NOT NOTICED BY THE AVERAGE GAMER AND HUMAN EYE" (I'm pretty sure even the above average non gaming person as well, couldnt tell a difference or notice anything like that off the bat) unless of course you bust out with the digital camera, enlarge it with some "natural growing suppliments", and sit there and count this stupid stuff and for what? So they can come and try to hurt the success of Halo 3? I really wish people could just like all the systems for what they are and what they offer, maybe wish that EVERYONE could have both the PS3 and 360 just to stop some of this stupid stuff.

I can accept that there's going to be people who may not like the Halo series, I can accept everything that other people like or dislike because that's what makes us unique. There's things I don't like but I don't go out of my way to try to make my point, influence other people on the slightest reason to hate something and or make them like exactly what I like. Also most if not all of you guys on here know I have both systems and there are, well I take that back. There has been a COUPLE of times for me when I've enjoyed the hell out of my PS3 for video game usage. But those couple of games cane only keep me busy and or liking that system for so long and end up going back to the system that has better graphics, more and better games (just my opinion), and ultimately use my 360 more. Also again, if the PS3 was this so called powerfull system, then there should be no excuse for ALL games to be able to upscale to like 1080i so people like me who got their HDTV 1-3 + yrs ago are able to at least enjoy these games that looks awesome and finally get released but end up not playing/buying just because of the downscaling this powerfull system does, however the "not so powerfull" 360 is able to upscale EVERY GAME THEY HAVE to at least 1080i and at least able to enjoy the 360 games in HD and looking amazing.

I think "bashing of systems" should be like voting. If you don't go out there and vote then really you dont have the right to say shit because you didn't go and vote. So you shouldn't be able to go and "bash" a system you don't even own. Untill you go out and buy that system then should just keep your comments to yourself. Now if you/they go out and buy the other system then by all means say whatever you feel like since at least you have the experiance with both. I don't have a Wii or a Nintendo DS so I don't go around bashing things that I really dont know about.

But anyways. I'm like half asleep trying to write all that lol. I think Halo 3 has been AMAZING so far. The graphics to me are just outstanding and there's some stages that relly make you feel like there's this huge "war" going on around you and just draws you into it. It definitley makes me feel as there's just something way bigger going on and I'm just a small part of it. The flying vehicle human version you use/get that reminds me of a "Warhawk" was awesome and that part in the stage when you used it was fun.

Only complaint I have about Halo 3, is it took me by surprise. I wasn't planning to get H3 right away and or once I did get it really play that much because I'm still verymuch into Madden, or I was. Then I popped in H3 and have been hooked/addicted ever since.

Also, just a quick note. None of the stuff I mentioned above in my little rant had NOTHING to do with any of the people on this board at all. We all see things pretty clear and really never bash anything of anything lol I really don't consider anyone here to be like hardcore fanboy, and even if you are but jsut dont say it, I was just trying to be silly and goofy and not trying to put any of you guys down or anything like that. It was just all in fun for all the people outside of here that look for slightest "problems" and they go around trying to make it bigger then what it is to try and better their systems when they know deep down that "microsoft" ended up not failing in the video game arena like alot of people including me thought they would have with the first xbox, and they've been able to prove the doubters wrong and they ended up getting lucky with having such great support from other companies and as well as having basically this out of no where little video game called "Halo: Combat Evolved" and just ended up being one of the best games out there and being a very successfull series. But it wasn't the "hype" or me trying to "fit in" with everyone that liked it or anything. It was the story that got me involved and ending up liking this game/series even more. And now trying to "Finish the Fight" has me even deeper into it and just enjoying every thing in it.

That being said, i do find it silly to see things like "Halo beat spider-man 3's ass" or whatever. Movies are cheaper, they dont require as much of our time, etc etc. THey should just focus on the fuckton of money it made, the figure alone should be impressive enough.

Well yea, for fans like us, its no big, but I'm talkin about those other people :p The ones that made Halo make more money than god and Spider-Man one of the top10 highest grossing movies of all time, that cant be all die hards, or people already "in the know", can it?

I loved Goldeneye too, but everything it did, Halo does better and then some. It's like people just want to be contrary, because I cant, for the life of me, understand how someone can love goldeneye (and some still claim to enjoy playing it to this day, I'm not one of 'em) but then turn around and hate Halo. I have a friend who told me nothing is better than the N64 controller, fuck that. Dual analog control was a godsend for consol FPS, not to mention on the fly melee attacks, granades mapped to the left trigger and vehicle combat, Halo owns Goldeneye completely. Maybe its because Goldeneye is the first good consol FPS and they feel it doesnt get as much credit as Halo does, but that happens all the time in any medium, why hold it against that particular game/movie/book? I never get that mindset.

And...damn, i hate ranting. lol Most of this comes from an argument I was having with a friend who is both a PC elitst AND a goldeneye fan. I was telling him "Look I know there are better games on the PC and that you think mouse/keyboard control is the only way an FPS should be played, I aint gonna argue with you on that but you LOVE goldeneye too, and Halo is a better version of that, at least, how could you not like it?" and he gave me stuff like the N64 controller nonsence and I just threw my hands in the air.

The problem I find is the childish attitude that unless something is the best then it's no worth it. IMO Goldenye is better than F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R is better than Halo. It doesn't occur to people though that maybe all three can be fantastic games.

PS3 fanboys always hark back to their system's superiority. When they point me at five exclusive titles on the PS3 that I simply must own I might consider buying one. Any semi-intelligent gamer will always take playability over technical brilliance. Goldeneye is so revered because it is so playable. Some of the best times of my teenage years involved sitting in front of the TV with a load of mates drinking Stella and playing 'loser goes off'. Years later it's still fun, and that's the real test.

I thought also the flamethrow was in this?? The Arb uses it in the cortana level but that's it. And haven't found it in the options either. My dreams of doing a "Ring of Fire" game...dashed to bits??


But what I did like on Bungienet, is that it has the campaign medal count, UNCS kIA, and Covenant KIA.

I found it on level 8. Your in the flood ship whatever, there's an opening where you can go outside and there's a marines ship out there and some weapons and one of em is the flamethrower. Comes with 100 shots. Really just need to shoot of like 1 burst on the enemy and they'll burn up an die.

It just explains what level I found it, where (kind of) and what it does. However just in case others want to just find it by surprise or "accident", which is what I did. I didn't even know but happened to go the wrong way and found it.

Everything we buy is competing for our money and our attention. That doesn't put them on level ground to be compared sales-wise. Ultimately, a film shouldn't be compared with a game sales-wise, because they're not in competition. The only reason it was brought up in the first place is because Sony put out Spider-Man 3, and Sony is the home of the PS3.

It's Microsoft's way of slinging mud at Sony by any means necessary.

I'm not usually much of a Halo fan, but the new game is beautiful. Lots of fun. Great weapons and vehicles. Too short however, but from what I understand Halo is more of a multiplayer game than anything else.

PS3 is getting carved so far so I'm glad I switched sides and went with microsoft this time around because GTA4 comes to both at the same time.

Does anyone know anything about the "Skulls" in Halo 3? Mainly how to "acitvate" them and or save them so they get included with your stats?

I've found 2 skulls yesterday, the #13 "I would have been your daddy" skull and then the "Mythic" skull. I picked up #13 and nothing happened, I then finished the level holding the skull. Still nothing and the bungie.net stat site still doesn't show it as ever being found or unlocked. Then I found the other one and still nothing happened and I pressed the "X" button and all of a sudden I got the achievement for it and again still didn't notice anything and he just kept holding it. I went and killed some people holding it till I died and restarted and still had it when it started again, finally I just dropped it to go back to guns but that one still didn't show up on bungie's stat's page?

I don't understand how your supposed to get it recorded so that way you can unlock other armors and such.

You need to find all the skulls for 13 to work. Once that's activated you get the Hyabusa armor. I think you can turn them on via the options for the campaign. I don't think they activate immediatly like they did in Halo2.

Other then that I am having a total blast with the game. It's like HaloCE all over again.

Well, I spent a little bit of time with the game on Friday night, but didn't get far due to being exhausted. What I played was an absolute blast, though. I don't care what resolution the game's running in, it looks gorgeous. It's not the greatest game of all time graphically, but it's very...efficient, I guess? There's so much going on at any time, but the game pulls it all off without a hitch.

Anyway, I can't wait to play it some more this coming weekend.

One item making the interwebs rounds this week was the scandalous revelation that Halo 3 runs at “640p” which isn’t even technically a resolution. However, the interweb detectives did notice that Halo 3’s vertical resolution, when captured from a frame buffer, is indeed 640 pixels. So what gives? Did we short change you 80 pixels?

Naturally it’s more complicated than that. In fact, you could argue we gave you 1280 pixels of vertical resolution, since Halo 3 uses not one, but two frame buffers – both of which render at 1152x640 pixels. The reason we chose this slightly unorthodox resolution and this very complex use of two buffers is simple enough to see – lighting. We wanted to preserve as much dynamic range as possible – so we use one for the high dynamic range and one for the low dynamic range values. Both are combined to create the finished on screen image.

This ability to display a full range of HDR, combined with our advanced lighting, material and postprocessing engine, gives our scenes, large and small, a compelling, convincing and ultimately “real” feeling, and at a steady and smooth frame rate, which in the end was far more important to us than the ability to display a few extra pixels. Making this decision simpler still is the fact that the 360 scales the
“almost-720p” image effortlessly all the way up to 1080p if you so desire.

In fact, if you do a comparison shot between the native 1152x640 image and the scaled 1280x720, it’s practically impossible to discern the difference. We would ignore it entirely were it not for the internet’s propensity for drama where none exists. In fact the reason we haven’t mentioned this before in weekly updates, is the simple fact that it would have distracted conversation away from more important aspects of the game, and given tinfoil hats some new gristle to chew on as they catalogued their toenail clippings.


Again, the biggest thing I noticed in their post was, it's really not noticable AT ALL. Unless you have no life like the people who sat taking digital (probably close up) pictures of certain screens just to blow it up even more and count this line with that pixel and then try to cause a ruckus because your jealous your system doesn't have Halo or a game like it. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if those fanboys who took the pictures cause all this "drama" like bungie puts it actually own's a 360 and loves it even more so then their PS3, but it's like their secret idenity and act like their hardcore anti-microsoft/halo. When deep down they worship microsoft and halo and if they own a PS3 letting it collect dust or doesn't even own a PS3.

Found a missle launcher and the flamthrower in lone wolf slayer today. They both put you in 3rd person view. The flamethrower is strong as shit. I barley got a guy with it and he was set ablaze and I got me this -

Incidentally, while I certainly like Halo (and will probably play it here shortly) I have to wonder just what makes it so special that people keep going on about "don't be jealous just because your system doesn't have a game like it." The hell is that about? If I want a game that's equally as fun as Halo, I'll play Resident Evil 4 over on the Wii or Heavenly Sword over on the PS3. A game doesn't have to be identical to Halo to be worth a damn. :pull:

My point is, and this happens with everything, just get's old already. It's more of a laugh at "them". The people that just go and look for the slightest thing to bring whatever is popular for the mainstream. You see if from video games to equipment like say an iPod. It's like "cool" to be the one to "bash" whatever it is that everyone is liking or doing at the moment. Has nothing to being "awesome", which I never said I was. I just don't go looking for the smallest thing on things that are "popular".

If I was an Anti-Halo everything, I wouldn't even say anything about it. I would maybe say why I personally don't like it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get a copy wether it was purchased, rented, or borrwoed JUST to look for things to make "my point" justified trying to get people angry towards the makers. I'm sure whomever went and took the pictures, enlarged/photopshoped them, sat and counted pixels and calculated it and whatever else they spent doing that including making a post which I'm sure was on several sites not just one, just to do what exactly? Show how cool they were for being "anti-halo" and trying to get people upset at Bungie? All that time they spent doing that stuff they could have done something more productive.

That's all I'm saying. It's not even just this, it's everything. 360 vs PS3, DS vs PSP, old school vs next gen, EVERYTHING. It's all good and fine not to like something and share your opinion, it's just old trying to make something an issue when really its not and it's every intention is just to try and get people to side with you/them.

None of the major sites or magazines appear to have given it less than a 9.5, which is odd. There's not really that much difference between a 9.5 and a 10. Frankly, I don't even know why they bother with scores like "9.4" or "9.9". Just give it a 9 or a 10 and have done with it.

Mind you, I've read some pretty critical comments about the campaign being lacking/short, which doesn't shock me. As the games have progressed, it seems like they focus less and less on the single player aspect and focus more on making it a better multilayer experience, which is fine, but for those of us who don't really do a lot of online play, it's a disappointing trend.

My point is, and this happens with everything, just get's old...

In lamen terms they wanted out for about a year to do more. Hell they could do another Marathon game, aswell as any type of Halo game for MGS. So this whole thing wasn't just a sudden move. They will still be making games for the Xbox brand so it's not like MS is loosing a dev. In a way it's like Sony and SquareEnix. Sony gets FF, SE can make what ever game they want for anyone else. Case in point the video of Halo on nintendo DS. While it's a complete shot in the dark it could happen. Frankly I would do it considering the install base of the DS. Well, I beat it last night after finally settling down to play the damn thing. It was pretty short (I think I took maybe close to six hours overall, most of which happened last night/this morning).

I have to say that it was a solid title; it's nothing ground-breaking (it's essentially a prettier version of the first two games), but that's alright when it's built upon a rock-solid foundation in the first place.

I have to say that I wasn't exactly wild about the last level essentially being a retread of the final levels of the original game. It would have been cool if it were the second-to-last level or something, but I was left wanting something more if this is supposed to be the final game in the Halo series as we know it. Also, I didn't like that there really weren't any boss battles, which is something I really liked in the second game.

So, overall, I think part three is the second best game of the series, with Halo 2 being my favorite. I'm looking forward to playing some multi-player sometime this upcoming weekend.

I kind of agree about the story mode in it. I was really dissapointed that there's no "huge" wide open battle like they show in the "Believe" commercials. I thought that something to that nature was going to be in the game considering it was "Finish The Fight" motto/tag, and the 2 or 3 "Believe" commercials showing that diorama of this huge battlefield and all kinds of shit going on like a real war.

Now there was some stages that was like that I guess but definitely not like the commercials made it to be like. Also like the 3rd stage I believe, like before the flood enemy shows up and your on "earth" I guess it's where your at, the backgrounds surely make it seem and feel like this is something happening ALL OVER the world and really in a desperate time, yet you never really seemed to be in the thick of things, or like how they say in Full Metal Jacket "The Shit" lol. Like, it was taking you to different spots OUTSIDE of the major/main war going on, as if you were doing the "side" stuff. Which is cool in it's own way, but still would ahve been awesome to fly over everything that's going on and seeing this epic battle going on, only to land or be placed in the middle of it for awhile. Kind of like say Star Wars Episode 2.

They could have had come come in and land for a little bit, make some progessfor awhile only to be getting picked up again to go take care of something.

I think what probably took away from them really going deep into the story was the Multiplayer part of it. Granted this is where I know they really wanted to concentrate in and probably make the most improvements to but still, could have done/added alot more to the single player side of it. Feels like Gears of War. Great story, campaign mode that can and most likely will be played over and over again, but just falls a little short of what it COULD have been.

I sometimes wonder how many people with ADD that are in the game developing feilds and if the story modes losses their attentions.

The way these games are being made, what I think would be cool is to have two-four teams and split them up so one half is doing nothing but the story/campaign and the other team is doing nothing but the multiplayer of things. Then one disc be the story/campaign and the other be multiplayer. I think something like that would add the experiance to both sides of things and everyone would be happy. Hell for the money they're making off of us they surely can do something like this. I'm pretty sure there is a huge mark up price on these kind of things.

I'm not sure how much a used X-Box goes for now, but if you can find one for a price to your liking, I say go for it. They haven't been manufacturing new ones for a couple of years now, so I don't know if that factors into your decision or not.

Zombie, I agree with pretty much everything you said. One thing I loved about Resistance on the PS3 is the fact that it made you feel like you were in the middle of these huge, epic battles. You never really got that with Halo 3. It's a minor quibble, but I was expecting more because the 360's processing power should have made it so. I mean, in terms of action taking place on the screen, I don't think Halo 3 upped the ante at all. It really just looks and plays like a more polished, HD version of the first two games. I still had a blast playing it, though (I just wish it were a bit longer).

Even if it's 2 bucks, its a waste of time and money. Horrible graphics and shitty gameply with suspect hit detection. You can blast a zombie point blank in the head with a shot gun and nothing will happen. I decide to ignore the abysmal reviews and went out to buy it because I had just seen the movie and it was a huge mistake.

If ou're really getting an xbox get Fable:The lost chapters or Jade Empire, both are great games. If you never got to try KOTOR, get that too. Oh and Ninja Gaiden, of course. I own Fable: The Lost Chapters for the PC. Granted, I can't play the thing (my video card is powerful enough, but there's some weird compatibility inconsistency), so if I do end up with an X-Box I may have to double dip the game. :meh: I played Knights of the Old Republic on a friend's X-Box, but I found it a bit wanting. I think maybe I'd be willing to give it another chance, as I didn't have a whole lot of time with it.

The story was kinda lacking....but it did close up all the loose ends. Cause any fan knows Spartans NEVER die. If you read the books it makes even more sense. As for Martys score... I have yet to be dissapointed with the music in any Halo game. Well actually some of H2's score was kinda eh. But this one... It has it's sad moments and just all out balls to the wall moments.

Impossible. the Milky Way can be seen in the background, meaning the planet is still beyond the rim. Onyx is well within UNSC space, so it can't be Onyx.
And Oly Oly Oxinfree is the SPARTAN "all clear" signal.

Got the Kill Frenzy last night during a Crazy King on the Pit. The hardest one to get I've heard is the Steppn Razor Triple sword kill. The two for one laser kill is by hard as well. Either you get two players lined up, or two off of a mongoose.

Other then that the rest are pretty easy. I have to do the last two levels for the meta game.

Man if you guys didn't play Halo 3 on Halloween then you missed out on some great games. I wasn't to big on "infection" game type but I think it was just because when I (and others from here) played it we didn't have a whole lot of players.

Bungie did a one day, 27 hrs only, special game type, Octobober 31st, Halloween, ONLY! Called "Living Dead", and it was just awesome. First they were all ranked, I think you were able to play it in Social games BUT you weren't able to unlock achievements in Social and you were in Ranked, because, well, it was considered a Ranked game.

I was able to get some damn hard achievements that I'd probably never would have gotten if it wasn't for this game type being avaliable like the Overkill, Triple Kill, Two For One, one's because they were hard in a lone wolves since there's not alot of people in that game (and because they don't gather in groups or close together) and kind of the same with Team DM's.

I hope they make this a perminate play type eventually. Of course people say "I heard if it's popular they may keep it as a regular game", "If you get to level 10/13 you get a pumpkin armor/helmet", and just a bunch of other stupid non-sense rumors. I could see if there is a high demand from the community then they may open it up, but who knows for sure other then Bungie right?

So that's about all, I did finally manage to get the Hyabusa armor/helmet finally. I kind of like it but at the same time I don't care to much for it as everyone and their mothers have it already so it's not as special as it was when the game was first released. Especially with the internet saying and showing how to get it (video's all over youtube, etc.. on how to get the Skulls) so wasn't a "rare" item anymore.

The helmet that I kind of want is the E.O.D. one, it's where the yellow visor part looks like eye's instead of a visor, and or maybe the Rouge one, but those will take awhile for me to get as the first one I need to beat it on legendary and Rougue by ranking to Spartan Officer which will take awhile kind of because need 70 EXP points. I don't do boosting so that it'll eventually come.

I figure I'll have Halo 3 fever for a few more days. Once I beat it on heroic (just need to do the last level now) and play a little more online games I'll put it up for awhile again and move to like NBA 2K8 and or my PS3 as Uncharted is coming out soon and because I want to get Ratchet & Clank soon.

So if you haven't played Living Dead yet, get your butt on there and play some because it's fun especially the way it's set up and how many people can be in the room. GO GET SOME!

I don't know why people didn't like the creeping death ones. I liked them. Kind of wish they had a creeping death with swords but it was fun. I agree about the shields. I don't mind like some shield but not like an oversheild as well. Sometimes was kind of unfair because they get you in one swipe but sometimes took a bunch of shots to kill a zombie.

Also they could have included Sniper Rifles for the living. That would have been cool. Also the living being able to pick up a sword would have been nice. Overall I liked it. I slept all damn day so missed out on playing today which sucks. Oh well. I managed to get some of the harder achievements and didn't have to boost like some people were trying to get the room to do, I hate people like that. They should just host their own game if they want to do that and leave ranked games for people that just want to play fairly.

Has anyone beaten Halo 3 on legendary all the way through by themselves? I'm currently on Tsavo Highway and been doing it alone on Legendary. There's some spots thats tough but it's not that bad as my friend made it to be or sound like. I notice just go slow, aim for the head alot, and just go slow. I wanted to do this Co-Op but I tend to pause alot and come in the computer room to take a smoke break and what not so that wouldn't sit well with others playing at the same time.

I miss the living dead games already. I looked at my stats and I played the most back to back games and longest time on MP with that playlist, so was definitely something I liked.

Also tried to play Lone Wolves last night but after playing living dead, it's hard to play with what 5 people in the room. THey need to open that up to like 10-13 people in a room.

I'm kind of on the fence about the new maps. I bought the Halo 2 one's when those were released but didnt play it much back then. Kind of not playing it much now, although I will eventually. Halo3 is a game that's going to be popular even next year or even two maybe. More then likely I'll probably get them, but at 800pts? So I finally started playing this again after conquering COD4 and damn forgot how tough as hell this game is on Legendary with just one person at that lol to make matters even worse (for me that is) I'm thinking that I was kind of far, like already did parts with the flood or something because I forgot what level Tsavo Highway is. Well after spending, hours, upon hours just trying to get past this one section befor fighting all the Wraiths and Choppers and I finally did and then I go through the warehouse and get to where you fight the Scarab. Right then and there I already knew I wasn't that far into it anymore.

Just checked my stats and it's only the 3rd goddamn level lol So I get to the battlefield to beat the wraiths first and just getting sluaghted AGAIN. Mainly by the guys in the Ghosts. These guys aim to damn good. It's deinitely super uber hard lol Should have been in bed a few hours ago (130am my time right now) and been up since 3am "yesterday" but I get to hooked into it but finally turned it off after dissapointing myself in how far I thought I might have been.So me thinking I'm going to need help from here on out lol I couldn't even imagine how people can beat the game just by themselves with no co-op on Legendary. It's not that I'm sucking because I'm doing "Ok" if not a little better. I'm getting good at headshot which is what's like required to bring these damn Brutes down. Then you have these Wraiths that all of a sudden shooting their huge plasma cannon really fast and accurate. SO I could be doing good and getting most brutes/aliens cleared out then all of a sudden a blast and I go flying throgh the map lol

I'm still liking it though which explains why I'm supposedly so hooked on this even if its the same. Still all sad thinking I was further then I am only to realize I'm still basically in the beginning lol Oh well. ALso got my kid all into it and he's all into Master chei saying its his friend then says "No he's OUR friend" lol then I die and he'll go "one more tiem" lol Ahh gotta love kiddo's.

I'm there now. I was able to get one of the Scarabs down. I don't know what happened when I went to the 2nd one and then somehow died but didn't really see anyone shooting me. The easiest way alone is to get to the one that comes down 2nd and get behind it right away and shoot the circle of like thing behind it and then knock out the legs so it stands still for a little bit then get behind again and there will be another big circle thing you can shoot at (this is while in the Pelican) and blow that and that will kill them. Then just work your way to the other one.

I think I might have forgotten about the Banshee's and they might of shot me down. I just have one more level to beat on Legendary which is the one right before the last level. After I beat the game on Hard I re-did the last level on Legendary just to see if it would recgonize as beating the game on Legendary like some games will even if you don't go through the whole game but this didnt. Then when looking at the campaign level select it showed which level I beat it at last so the first 7-8 levels were all just on Hard and only one had Legend on it, so I'm assuming I just have to beat this one with the 2 scarabs then the one after it and should be ok and it'll unlock. At least that's what I'm hoping for lol.

Yea the two scarbs are a bitch. I used the tank, and just hid and killed all the ghosts, and banshees. While taking out the scarb. I was able to take it down. Climb aboard and take out the one. Then got back in the tank, and did the same thing with the next one. Took.....several tries till I got it.

After that the cortana level.....oh sweet christ.

I'm thinking that I'm dying right away because maybe it's just the ship being banged up a little so just a couple of hits of anything by the time I get to the last Scarab is killing me. Because every time it's like 1-2 hits and then I'm dead. It's not even giving me a chance to like back up and recharge or even showing me as in the red to let my shields recharge. Also I think my tank is banged up a little bit so I don't know if that tactic would work out that well for me? Maybe I get a Pelican. Fly that somewhere and land it, then use the tank till it blows up and then go back and get the Pelican if it hasnt been destroyed or anyone has taken it?

I tried the flying in way....never worked for me. But the only way to do it is to take out the ass end of the scarab the flying way. And take out banshees when you can.

Good God Jesus Christ! I finally did it! Sweet lord that was tough. Luckily for my I already went through the very last missing of H3 on Legendary before (trying to cheat the system lol) So I didn't have to do that level again, so my "last" level was Cortana and that was a bitch and a half. Fuckin Flood is worse then two scarabs.

But got it done just going single player. A few times I was wishing I had help but I made it through.

The trick that I did with the 2 Scarabs was paid more attention right away to the Banshee's, Ghost's, and the Brutes like on the head of the Scarabs along with the other Brute Cycle whatever. While also shooting at the legs of the Scarabs and just going in circles till it like paused for a bit then shot the ass like no tomorrow. Finally got that and then just fighting the damn flood. The only things I hated were those transforming ones that would stick on a wall and shoot green shit at you. That sucked.

But all done, now can just concentrate on MP for this and COD4 (well have Bioshock still to beat along with Orange Box (eh on OB) ) Maybe do the scoring ones here and there.

Does it make a difference on what level you play on when doing the scoring? Like do you get more points if you play on hard or legendary, or is it all the same?

Thats where I think I was stuck for like two months on is the Tsavo Highway. I was stuck like when the first Wraith I think comes up. Then there's like 2-3 Brutes with the plasma rocket launchers? And there's some like trailers blocking the path which helps you get cover? I know it's just before you go up the hill and getting on the freeway which is at the end. I don't know what I did but I just finally did it. Once I finally got past that part then it wasn't to bad. It was just mainly that Wraith the was killing me. I had like a pattern set up to where I had one shot with an alien sniper rifle and used that on the stronger brutes then would run up the hill to some bunkers to get the human sniper rifle and where a stock of bad rifles were, then just kept shooting for the heads while dodging the green plasmas and wraith blasts. Using the sniper rifle mainly on the strongest brutes.

But yea, that area for some reason was just hard as hell for me. I think mainly because I didn't have that many power weapons. Kind of like when I was on Cortana level. Once I finally got done with my flame thrower which is the 2nd one you encounter I went and just started to run past as much as I could just to get to checkpoints lol.

THe worst I ever had was soemone who I know is good at the game but when they were my gunner they wouldnt even fire the fucking gun! WTF? THey would take like long ass pauses in between firing the damn thing too, I wouldnt had minded so much if she killed someone when she WAS firing.

Anyway, I have my good and bad days when driving that thing but when I'm on, I am on. I'm doing dounts, making jumps and running fuckers over like it aint no thang.

So - I just started playing not too long ago and I'm in the second level (The base) and there's an area where you wind up sneaking up on a bunch of aliens conversing about something... and then you attack and I usually never make it very long. Any help on how to beat this part? I've used my grenades and everything I can think of - still get killed.

Doing it myself. I did it with 6 skulls on, up to Tsavo highway on heroic. Because the part where you encounter heavy Brute resistance...Seriously took me 5 hours and I got no where. I found a skull but it didn't unlock anything. How did you get to use it and unlock it?

The gold skulls don't unlock achievements. There's also another skull (can't remember whicha nd where) where it's just a duplicate skull and doesnt do anything other then unlock that paticular skull if you missed it in the early stages of the game. I think it's the one in Cortana level, when your in the room that you come back to after getting cortana and you have to destroy the generators.

Also, to "use" them you have to go to the main menu and there's a place where you start the campaign and you can turn scoring/skulls on/off and shows which skulls you've found so far. But activating them and deacivating them makes you lose your progress and have to start the level(s) all over again unless you have access to go ahead and select any level.

I found the one on the ark, in an alcove at the beginning of the level. That one did not unlock anything so it may have been a gold skull. I didn't know about the cortana level though

The St. Valantines day Massacre is all weekend till the 18th. It's a 2vs2 tournament. With prizes awarded from Bungie. Depending on what you do, you win the Recon armor.

Also new auto update this week, fixes the Melee system, and unlocks the commando armor for the elites. Since it was not unlocking for the "steppin razor" achievement.

Figure I'd just post this here since it's Halo 3 related.

McFarlane Halo 3 figures are now showing up in Walmarts which is 2 weeks early for when they're supposed to be released. I first saw it on 360fanboy.com that people reported seeing them early in walmarts in TX, so since I had to go there anyways I figured I'd check it out but didn't have that much hope, since it is NM and was probably thinking we wouldn't have gotten them out just yet.

But sure enough, there they were all of the Series 1 figures (except Cortana I couldn't find). My son has been like in love with Master Chief and every time I show him the toy pictures he gets all excited and keeps saying how he wants it lol (he's only 5) and he pretends his GI Joe toy(s) are Master Chief even though their not green lol. So I got 2 MC's so I could have one to take to work and just put him up there lol, and one for him and also got him the Brute so he could have a "bad guy" and figured that the ones that would probably be hard to find or sell fast would be MC and the Brute because there wasn't that many of those, but there were a ton of the Jackle's and those other little Alien guys. Also alot of the Red and Blue Spartans.

He wasn't with me when I got it, but now when i got back home they've been waiting for me (my kids go to their mom on the weekends and come back today in the eve) and I gave him the bag when getting out but he couldn't tell what they were, then when he got inside he pulled them out and the look on his face :eek: was just classic, and just makes reminding on how it's awesome having kids. :sniffle: lol He was soooo excited and jumping up and down, saying "Thank You" over and over and couldn't wait to open it... Then I haven't seen him since lol he's been in his room playing lol, but yea, just wanted to share that and how awesome it is that something that little could like mean so much for a kid. I definitely got alot of hugs and thank you's for it. Kind of felt a little bad cause I didn't get anything for my daughters whose 8 and 9 but it's not like I didn't remember. I just didn't know what to get them. They're so weird when it comes to toys. Some days they want barbies, hannah montana, bratz, and then sometimes wants little dogs/cats stuffed/robotic-like toys or lil pet shop things, so just promised them that next time we go to the store (which would probably be in a couple of days anyways so not like they'll wait long) I'll let them pick out what they want and get it for them.

But that's all, if you've been interested in them and kind of looking for them, then try your walmarts. They're only $10. I do have to say though that they're definitely not the "best" McFarlane has made, and if I had to say I would think they're kind of on the cheap end quality wise, but then they don't really look like something to collect or display. They're made to play with more IMO. I saw the ones from Halo 2 and those looked better then these one's. They're also like slightly bigger then a small/old-school GI Joe's and or about the same size and the Spiderman 3 todays, so definitely not that big...

Grifball was awesome, I hope they bring it back. Last night though something I have never seen and mathmatically impossible aswell. It was 3 vs 4, I was on the team with 3 and we came close to wining. But here's the kicker...one of them got a Killtastrophe which is 8 kills in 4 seconds. With a respawn time of 2 seconds....it just doesn't add up.

New map called Avalanche which is a homage to Sidewinder from HaloCE. It looks sweet, and the Legendary map pack comes out April 15th for 800MSpoints. The third map won't been shown till then... And their was something about one map being refered to as "Purple Rain." I could only think of as it's a covenant map...or a reference to prince and it could be Bloodgulch only the map formerly known as BG.

Man, I used to be terrific at Halo. About two years ago, I went a whole round with 5 other people and managed to win without dying (25 kills). I've hardly played at all since then, and now EVERYBODY kicks my ass (even little kids).

Halo3 Mythic, will be the probable final update for the game. Giving players an additional 750 achievements. The doozy is one that can only be played after 9/28/08, it's 4 player online co op, Legendary, ghosts, and no shields. Or something like that. Single player looks like more skulls to find..... And MP has stuff for Zombies,CTF, and Oddball, plus some others. And new Map Assembly which looks like a Convenant ship yard..kinda.

I enjoy Halo 3 a lot. I wouldn't say I prefer it over Halo 2, but it's right there with it. I almost think of them as two different games. The weapons, maps, and especially the game play is a hell of a lot different. I would say I'm just as good in 3 if not better than I am in Halo 2. The funny thing is that I don't even own it, but I still manage to play it quite often and rarely lose to anyone. A friend of mine has 360 and Halo 3 and he doesn't play it all except when I'm over. I got his account to a 50 in 3 days in Slayer. :)

Finished ODST before I went to work. A very strong game and worthy edition to the Halo franchise. It had a lot of noir elements and it had a fucking awesome cast of voice actors.

Try firefight yet? I've been doing acouple so far. I did one on easy mode ranked up 306 kills before my first death in 49min. Normal is alittle tougher I feel...that or my game is just off......

I played one firefight game on Heroic and nearly made it to 50,000. Once my remaining friends put down money for the game, I expect to get the firefight achievements with ease. Currently only my friend Anubis has the game, I'm waiting for Rander and StayPuft to join in and then the ball will really get rolling.

Getting those Vidmaster achievements will continue to be a bitch, though. Annual has haunted my friends and I for some time. But I need that Recon armor in the same way a gambling addict needs to roll the dice "just one more time."

I have difficulty beating any of the 4 games on Legendary while playing solo. It still eludes me on Halo 3 and likely will take me forever on ODST. Those are 225 gamer points that really haunt me, and getting people to play the whole campaign with me is a hassle and a half.

But we wants them, precious!

Oddly, Halo's multiplayer achievements are the only multiplayer achievements I can stand. They usually piss me off, but I crave Halo's. There's just something...unique about hunting for those. Otherwise, I'de love for it to be done as Call of Duty 4's system, where achievements are for single player and there's a reward system for multiplayer. Rainbow Six Vegas had a good system too where most of the achievements were universal and could be obtained in both. There were still some mutually exclusive ones, but as a whole you could gain them in both.
