I've seen one so far, which was The Gravedancers. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth "dying" for either. I've seen the beginning of Dark Ride and like what I saw, but I had to take it back to the video store because I was working way too much. I've got Unrest right now and I plan on watching it sometime after Hustle and Flow. Apparently, it's the first horror film to "... Use real human cadavers." Can't wait.
They probably had such a huge turn out for the last one that 8 More Films to Die for will take place in November. Last time, the closest theater to me holding it was Ft. Wayne. I might travel up to see it if I can get it off.

I've seen some of the promos for this series, but are any of the movies good? I don't want to waste my time with b movies. I remember when I found out about Masters of Horror. I went nuts and rented almost every episode. But it turned out, there were only two good movies (imo). So yeah, don't want to waste time and money watching these.

I thought I read somewhere that Tom Savini used a cadavere as the Creep in Creepshow. Hmm...

I've thought about purchasing a couple of these but I haven't heard enough about them on whether they were good or not. I might have to get them to at least add them to my collection. If anyone has seen most of these could you tell us which ones were best and which weren't?

Dark Ride was not that bad. I've been on a movie kick the last few days. I'm still going to watch Unrest tonight or tomorrow night. There was a nice little twist at the end that I kinda saw coming, but I kinda thought wrong. It wasn't as gory as I had hoped.

Overall a very good compilation of films this year, infinitely better than last year (which I wasn't all that impressed with).
I saw them all over the weekend, here are my mini reviews...
Unearthed - (B)
A pretty cool creature feature with some very atmospheric, grainy cinematography, good performances, and a nice turn-around on a few genre stereotypes; and very good CGI for such a small film.
Borderland - (B+ or A-)
The road trip/torture/revenge movie that Hostel should've been with characters that I gave a shit about, enough nudity to serve the story without going ridiculously overboard, and an unnerving as hell tone throughout; Sean Astin is nearly as effective as a sadistic cult member as he is a Hobbit.
The Deaths of Ian Stone - (B+ or A-)
One of the most unique takes on demons in quite some time with some beautiful effects work by Winston and a mix of Jacob's Ladder, Twilight Zone, and Hellraiser vibes.
Lake Dead - (B)
A nice love letter to the F13 films with some Wrong Turn and TCM 03 mixed in.
Tooth and Nail - (B+ or A-)
A tense post-apocalyptic/survival film with good victim and villain performances (Michael Madsen and Vinnie Jones make great brute bad-asses), a nice theme on when someone should and shouldn't resort to extremes, and a cool twist.
Mulberry Street - (B-)
Basically an inferior 28 Days Later, in concept, cinematogarhy, and overall style, still a passable infected flesh-eaters movie though.
Nightmare Man - (B+)
A good mix of campy, slasher, and psychological horror.
Crazy Eights - (C+)
A decent ghost story, but rather slow without enough of a pay off to compensate for it.

Since I'm so busy, I'm not able to check these out in the theaters, but I'm really interested in Tooth and Nail, Nightmare Man, and Borderland. I'll probably buy them all when they're released on DVD. I still haven't watched all the films from last year's festival yet.

Borderland, Tooth and Nail, and The Deaths of Ian Stone are genuinally great; Nightmare Man is great in the Shaun of the Dead/Dead Alive way.

I really enjoyed the Deaths of Ian Stone. Creepy flick. I hadn't quite seen anything like it before.

loved it last year and loved it this year. last year Dark Ride and Wicked little things i loved, this yeat Nightmare Man < all the way and mullberry street was the best. but to me nightmare Man was the best to come from this years, it brought back the 80's feel and it was also nice to see tiffany on the big screen for a change.

I'd like to check some of these out but my theater isn't going to show any of the movies. If I lived in Columbus, which is about an hour from where I live, or had a friend that wanted to drive up & see these, I'd definitely check them out.
