I didn't know what to name this topic really. Was wanting to ask a question but could also lead to alot of other discussions, memories, etc...
Well the reason for it, is I'm not a big shoe buyer. I'm still wearing "basketball" Nike Air shoes that I bought like 6-7 yrs ago or so. I've also never cared for to many brands other then Jordans and Nike's as well as being pretty "plain" colored. The one's I have now are just all black and they were kind of hard to find because back then when I got these it was like all the other shoe's were all space looking crap that I just didn't like. Granted I probably could have found what I wanted with a different brand but those are the only 2 brands I've worn and liked.
Before those I had the original Air Jordan "12" Playoff Ed. Shoes that were black and had like that white stripe on em. Man I loved those shoes.
Well anyways, I was looking at Ebay just to see if people sold Jordan shoe's New and sure enough they did, and sure enough I've been able to find the one's that I used to have before, but they're like one of the most popular one's and end up going for ALOT (well more then I'm willing to spend on a pair of shoes that I plan on wearing and not collecting) while browsing I was talking to my friend and he just flat out made fun of me because he said Jordans are for "Ghetto, wanna-be Rappers, Posers, etc..." and also like ONLY for playing B-Ball in them and not to be worn with jeans???
That started a huge debate with him because I've never seen them like that and still see alot of people buying/wearing Jordan shoes. Granted sometimes it's the kind of people he stereo typed but not all.
I just learned now that those shoe's were re-released not to long ago as part of his "retro" line along with all his other shoes. So I've been out of the loop for awhile because had I known sooner I definitely would have went and bought another pair of those 12's that were black with the white on the sides.
But then now hearing what my friend said has my thinking if I'd be laughed at or something? He says I'm just trying to tap into my "younger" days and stuff like that, yet I just liked the design, color, and the feel of them. Plus they did pretty much matched anything I wore and looked excellant when I had them cleaned up and such.
So what do you all think about "Jordan" shoe's and wearing them "casually" like with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt? Should I take his advise and avoid Jordans, Nike, and any other kind of b-ball shoe's and just get one of those casual shoes like "Lugz" for example lol? Do any of you have Jordans now and still buy/wear them?
What have been your favorite shoes? Like I mentioned this thread could be used ALOT of disussions so we'll see how it goes..
Thanks

I've owned three pairs of Jordans in my time and I'll never be mistaken for a BBall player. Granted I'm at that age where I'm hardly in a situation to wear casual wear so for me to drop $150-$200 on a pair of sneakers is kind of silly. If I'm going to spend that money it better match a suit.
But in my time, yes I'd wear them as you said. On my casual days, I wear some low top Jordan's I bought within the last 4 years with shorts.
Jordan's do look silly unless you're wearing a certain style of clothes. They definitely don't go with slacks and a polo.
Did you hear about the 23rd edition Jordan's from last month? They're all green (as in eco-green). As you know, his # was 23. So the 23rd year for #23's shoe. 23 three stores in the country each got 23 pairs of the shoe for the price of $230.00. Naturally the resell on ebay is in the thousands of dollars.

Yeah I saw that last night. Its mainly those blue/titanium ones that are going for alot. I actually saw quite a few of the "23's" at Champs in the mall down here on Saturday. However I didn't really like them that much. They were the wite one's that have like little "m's" all on the sides, but even those I saw on Ebay are going for about $300+! I'm not one to buy something just to sell on Ebay. I'd hate to go buy $200 shoe's then not get even that much for them on ebay. Maybe if I saw those Titanium one's I'd consider it.
The only Jordans I like are the one's that are mostly soid in color or maybe 2 colors on them but being like white & black. On my work days with slacks and nice shirt I wear like business casual shoe's. I only wear sneakers when I wear jeans and thats when I would like wear a pair of jordans (depending on design/color of course) and I found some jordan brand shoes that were just all black like the ones I have now for like $79 that I was goin to get, but then they had this weird "buldge" sticking out like on the outside just below the toes like where the foot curves and it looked fine from the side but looking down at them, they just looked weird and funny so I passed on those ones.

I'm a shoe of many colors...
 *tough crowd
Okay... I have my outside runners, worn through the toes; my floor hockey runners; brown leather shoes for work and several black dress shoes. I still have hiking boots I haven't put on since the 90s.

For the summertime, I like low top, skate-shoes. Preferably, Madrid and Vans. I also like Nike Air Force Ones.
For the winter, I like heavy boots. Doc Martens are my favorite.
I am hard on shoes, it doesn't fucking matter what brand they are, I always wear them out. I bought a pair of SWAT tactical boots from the supplier that I get my EMS equipment from (I am on the volunteer ambulance) and I wore them out in 4 months, even though they had a 5 year warranty . I bought a pair of Nike style Wal-Mart brand sneakers and they had holes in them after 3 weeks. Can any shoe buffs suggest any kind of shoes/footwear that is extra durable, only thing is they must be strong around the ankle area, as I can't stand shoes that are low around my ankles...

I have a pair of Docs purchased in 1998 and worn as work boots on the railroad that are still in tip-top shape. In fact, if I wanted to, I could rub some lotion on them and wear them with a nice outfit. Yes, they were $300, but I figure that 10 years and counting is well worth it.
Vis-a-vis kicks, there's nothing wrong with wearing Jordans or what have you with casual wear. I'm personally a fan of Nike Shox - my current pair is silver trimmed in orange. Basically, you can't go wrong with a pair of Chucks, a pair of Nikes, a pair of boots, and a pair of dress shoes.

I'm not a big fan of shoes or sandals, I prefer boots. I don't own any shoes currently, just boots. I have kind of a hard time finding a lot of stuff I like though because I have semi-big feet... size 14-16 depending on the brand.
Boots I currently own
-Timberland Pros (metatarsal work boots)
-Tuk tri-buckle 2" platforms (my nice weekend/going out boots)
-Some cheap black 6 eye Doc knockoffs (motorcycle and just out and about boots)
-Sorrel knockoff winter boots... they suck, but it's all I could find without spending an obcene amount of money
-Waterproof, camo hiking boots (hunting boots)
-Cheap 6 eye work boots that are riddled with holes. I only wear them when I figure my feet are gonna get really wet or muddy.

Thanks for the link,
but yea, that's what I basically did. My friend is like a "preppy" kind of person and always critical of everything. Like I said about what he thought about Jordans which I think is so untrue. While some might be real, but for the most part it's not. I see alot of people wearing them and they're not little thugs, wanna be rappers, etc.. Just normal people like me in jeans and a t shirt lol
So that's what I did tongiht. I just said fuck it and went in and tried on like 5 different ones, walked around in them and finally picked the ones I liked the most. It's kind of funny to the ones I picked. The ones I want really really bad are the Jordan 12's "playoff" ones. The ones all black with the white strip... Well I didn't even know what these one's were and I got Jodan Retro 12.5 Team Low lol.. They're based off the 12's only they're all one color for the most part which is all black. Then it has like a little "bubble/plastic" like at the ankle that's like silver/metalic with the Jordan symbol and I think like 12 in the background and on the back it has kind of like the same strip but it's rubber whatever... Hell here's a pic lol
http://www.sneakerfiles.com/2008/02/11/air-jordan-12-5-low-black-metallic-silver/
Although the stiching isn't as light colored like it is in the pic, they're like a greyish color... But I liked them, my kids liked them the most out of the ones I tried and they pretty much go with what I wear during the weekends and on Fridays for casual days. Of course when I showed my friend them he had something to say and didn't like em, but I was just like.. "I dont give a fuck what you think, your not wearing em and I didn't buy em to impress you, I like them and I'm wearing them and that's all that matters, fuck everyone else on what they think.." And knowing how he is, I'm sure when I wear them on Friday, he's going to give me shit and or "talk" with someone else (he works with me) by him and he'll say something like "I even asked/talked to so and so and they thought/think the same thing"... I don't know why, but he's one to ALWAYS get another opinion or question everything. I hate telling him stuff because it's like he never believes me and then goes and gets it confirmed with someone else, and with stuff that I wear or whatever I've even told him, "Why do you have to ask someone else on what they think or their opinion on something that they don't even care or notice yet you have to have something to "back you up" for some reason?" and that was because I was wearing shorts and a tshirt during the summer and my old sneakers I have with it and he had to make a big deal...
Granted while I don't care it kind of bugs because then I start to wonder well what is everyone else thinking or cause he brought it up with someone else, who else are they gonna tell or ask about it and how will it get around? Another reason why I hate working at call centers especially where I'm at because I'm in tech support and the highest level of data tech support at Verizon Wireless, so EVERYONE is like judging everyone and or always "1-upping" everyone or trying to. This is the first job that I've pretty much have kept to myself because of how everyone is.
I'd go outside for my break and have a smoke, and there will be a group of people talking and there is ALWAYS one person in the group that ALWAYS knows EVERYTHING that one person is talking about or has "done" it but only better or different, especially this one guy that works there that just kind of butt's into everyones little group/conversation and somehow always knows exactly what they're talkinga bout and has had a "better/worst" experiance or whatever they're talking about and I hate that shit. So I just stay by myself and if someone wants to talk to me and they come talk then cool I'll talk but I don't try to act like I know everything when I dont and or just let them tell their stories, but I also hate when people talk about "work" during break & lunches like when they talk about the "call/customer" they just had or did have during the day/week... It's like "fuck people, I'm out here to relax and get ready for another 2 hours, don't come out here and bring work with you, leave work in the building where it belongs"
So yea, kind got off topic, but that's how I feel. If people like em and give me a compliment (which i'm sure I'll get) then cool. If not or they don't notice or they do and they don't like and think shit in their head or even tell me what they think, then oh fucking well, that's their problem not mine...
There is also nother Jordan shoe that I want. I guess it's a Air Jordan Classic(s) 23. It's a low top and the one I'm liking is all/mostly black with like maple/brown on the inside and the little logo on top under the first shoe lace area and also a bigger jumpman logo on the back/heel... They're like for dress up occasions and look pretty much exactly like the ones I wear now for my business casual shoes only they have that little brown/maple color on it which even then isn't a big deal. So I'm thinking of getting those if I can find them down here at a store cause they were only $30 but they didn't have my size and I found em online but for double/triple the price of the $30 ones at the store. And those I can wear through out the week and if anything can just color the brown/maple colored logo with a black permaninte marker/sharpie...
See Jordans are like the only shoe's that I bought in high school, so those are the only ones I really "know" and I've always liked them and they're light as hell and comfortable as hell so why try something else that I might not like and stick with wht I do know and like for sure? ANother reason it's hard for me when I buy clothes because how the style is and the way I dress they don't have much of the clothes I like/wear. Everything now is like 3-5x's people's size and or all funky looking stuff or just all preppy, and I like things that fit just right or like slightly baggy'ish but not to much and just more like plain solid colors and not wearing multiple shirts and what not. But oh well lol

I love shoes! :D I have to wear dress shoes most of the week so I usually have a couple pairs of nice, low-heel or flat dress-up shoes. Usually black or dark navy blue. I have a couple pairs of black high heels for fancy parties. and a really comfortable pair of cheap tennis shoes that I have broken in just right.
Also have a ton of sandles and bedroom slippers, plus a pair of high heeled black leather boots that hurt my feet like nobody's business, but I look so damn hot in them that I refuse to throw them away.
If I had to pick a favorite pair, I would pick my black satin isotoner slippers. I put little pink and blue rinestones on them so they glitter. They are sooo pretty and nice to wear after a long day at work.
Jeeze. You can tell I'm a girl. lol. Major shoe fetish here. :p

Long time Nike wearer. I do a lot of running and they serve me very well.
I wear Timberland leather shoes to work. I also have Timberland hiking shoes, and of course my Army issued boots.

Usually my shoe of choice depends on what kind of jeans i'm wearing.
If i am wearing straight cut jeans i go with the Chucks, for any wider fit or bootcut jeans then Airwalk skate shoes will do.

I usually only wear Vans. I find them so comfortable, I don't really mess around with anything else. Right now, I have some TNT IIs and some Black and White slip ons. I really need to get some new ones (or maybe just wash them), but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I just finally picked up a pair of boots I'd been wanting forever. TUK 8 eye boots with 2 3/4" soles... I've wanted a pair ever since my brother got them like 4 years ago, but I hadn't seen any in a long time. Jumped on a pair last week when I saw them; heavy as hell but they're pretty comfortable once they break in and they look sweet.

I have a question, I hope someone here has some experience with this. I'm looking to buy a new shoe for walking and I plan to wear them everyday, all the time. I'm looking at the Nike Shox Turbo+ VI. (http://www.nike.com/index.jhtml#l=nikestore,grid,_grid,s-shox,_pdp,cid-1/gid-162118/pid-167860&re=US&co=US&la=EN)
Anyone have experience with this shoe? Is it confortable to wear all day?

ALL i wear on my feet is the original tan Timberlands. I wear size 16 in sneakers, and sneakers just dont look right on your feet when they are this big. I can fit in a size 15 Timberland, I havent bought anything but the same exact pair of Timbs since I was 14 years old, and im 25 now.
