I'm seeing them live on Monday, so I just figured for the hell of it I'd restart the thread on my second favourite band

my favourite song by them is Love Bites, my favourite album by thm is definetally On Through the Night, Monday will actually be my 3rd time seeing them live...there was a rumour circulating that on their Adrenalized tour they were thinking of asking me to open for one of their shows, but I never believed that rumour

DL is a great band.

Saw them in 2000 with Joan Jett and they rocked. Many classic guitar solos and songs. I love everything on Pyromania.

Historia/In The Round DVD

aw man, what a fucking amazing concert DVD that is, though I say their Pyromania concert was more of an awsome show, probably cause I was actually there:p...and seeing them in summer of 2005 and 2007, they didn't come anywhere near the Pyromania show

but my point=In The Round, In Your Face, one of the best concert DVD's that I own, along with Judas Priest Electric Eye (Turbo tour)

and Historia is one of few video compilations that I love watching, as well as that new Ratt one

You can add Women and Love Bites to that list as well. I also like the video for Women as well.

Judas Priest Electric Eye DVD has a great concert but I like the concert on Live Vengeance '82 DVD best.

One of the great 80's 'feel good' bands. Some killer tracks in that decade. They had trouble with the transformation that took place in the music scene during the 90's. Adrenalize was horrific. Last good album was Hysteria, and I can't even imagine how great that record would sound today had it not been so incredibly polished/overproduced.

I quite like Adrenalize (except the dreaded Let's Get Rocked) Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad is such a great song that speaks out so much to me

I was introduced to Def Leppard when I was lad, via this video tape (http://www.amazon.com/Def-Leppard-Katherine-Kelly-Lang/dp/6301035143/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1201997163&sr=1-1). I've still got it packed up in a box somewhere, in fact. But when I first watched the video back in 1993/1994, I became hooked -- and I was only 11 years old!

I haven't listened to much of Def Leppard's output post Hysteria, but I'm planning on getting their new album -- Songs from the Sparkle Lounge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songs_From_The_Sparkle_Lounge) -- because I'm intrigued by the fact that Tim McGraw will be performing on the disc. :X

My favorite song by Def Leppard is probably Foolin'. That song gets no love. It's got some great acoustic work in it, too. Other favorites include:

Too Late for Love
Rock of Ages
Bringin' on the Heartbreak
Women
Love Bites
Pour Some Sugar on Me
Hysteria
Hello America

Two Steps Behind (Acoustic Version) is probably my second favorite song by them.

I just bought Adrenalize, which if you ask me is their 2nd hardest cd to find...sure it's used but who cares, atleast I finally own it, I only heard it once when it first came out, I remember quite liking it (except Let's Get Rocked:x) and I already know how much I love Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad...I have yet to get to the cd yet cause it's not the only cd I bought..and I usually listen to new cd's alphabetically, lol

The video for Let's Get Rocked was kind of funny, when it first came out that is. My fave video still remains Foolin'.

That's my favorite video too, Shoey. I think the video is part of what made me like the song so much.

Similar here. I saw the video on "Good Rockin' Tonight" with Terry David Mulligan (sp?) in the early 80s before I had heard anything from Pyromania. I like Joe's hair in it. lol.

Y'all remember Good Rockin' Tonight? Four O'Clock Rock? Backstage Pass? Man, I'm old. :p

Those shows predate me a bit, I must admit. :X

Oddly enough, I remember thinking when I was a kid that Joe Elliot had a striking resemblance to Laura Dern in Jurassic Park.

You know another good video? Rock of Ages. Isn't that the one where Joe walks around brandishing a broadsword? :o

CanadianFonzie
02-05-2008, 11:07 PM
yup, than the sword turns into Phil's guitar for the solo

I really can't wait for Def Leppards upcoming album, I'm pissed it got moved back to May though

I just picked up my first Def Leppard CDs tonight. I've never owned any brand new discs by the band, I've only owned the music video VHS tape I mentioned earlier, and a used copy of The Vault that was given me by an ex-girlfriend, which I lost ages ago.

So when I was at Wal-Mart tonight, I was looking through the Def Leppard section and I almost purchased Pyromania. But then I noticed they had a 2 disc set called Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection (http://www.amazon.com/Rock-Ages-Definitive-Def-Leppard/dp/B0009299LU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1202277326&sr=1-1).

The set has got most of the songs from Pyromania on it, as well as a bunch of other songs that I like and some that I've never heard before, so I purchased it. The disc claims that all of the songs have been digitally remastered, so until I can afford to buy a complete Def Leppard discography, I think this was a good purchase.

Also, they had a "Bonus" CD on sale for less than $3.00. It's called Yeah! Bonus CD with Backstage Interviews. Apparently, the disc is a Wal-Mart exclusive:

Wal-Mart Exclusive Limited Edition EP. This is an 8-song release that compliments the Yeah! CD (It does not have any of the songs from "Yeah!") It does include FIVE UNRELEASED cover tunes and 3 interview segments. Complete track listing is as follows: 1. American Girl (Tom Petty cover) 2. Backstage Interview #1 3. Search & Destroy (Iggy Pop cover) 4. Backstage Interview #2 5. Space Oddity (David Bowie cover) 6. Backstage interview #3 7. Dear Friends (Queen cover) 8. Heartbeat (Jobraith cover)

I couldn't pass it up, not at less than $3.00. But I got lucky, because almost every single copy of the CD was floating around in the case. :X The one I got is the only one in which the disc was still firmly in place.

So, yeah. I got me some Def Leppard tonight. Huzzah!

Man I hate when the CD is bouncin' around in a sealed case. Good that you got one that stuck to its guns, Jeans.

Man, now I remember why Bringin' On the Heartbreak was my favorite Def Leppard song when I was a kid. Goddamn, I love that song! Hearing it again brought all the memories flooding right on back. And it's interesting hearing the song go directly into Switch 625. I'd never heard Switch 625 before last night. I like it.

You know what song I miss? Me And My Wine. Apparently, it's a hard song to get in the states.

Rock Rock (Till You Drop), Let It Go and High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night) are all very AC/DC sounding songs. Joe sometimes sounds a lot like Angus on those tracks.

CanadianFonzie
02-07-2008, 05:55 PM
Angus? you mean Brian, lol

I can't believe you've never heard Switch 625, through the years '82-'83 that was the song my band opened every show with, I have great memories with that song, of course I can't play it as good as I used to

As I previously said, Steve Clark was and always will be one of the most important guitarists to me and I owe him alot of gratitude for being such an influence, rumour has it Switch 625 got it's title from when Steve lost his virginity June 25th (625) but supposedly that ain't true

Angus? you mean Brian, lol

Indeed I did. Cut me some slack, CF, I was on the verge of passing out. :p

I can't believe you've never heard Switch 625...

As far as I know, this is the first compilation album to have Switch 625 on it. Since it wasn't on the Historia VHS or on The Vault, I'd never heard it. :X

One of these days, I plan to buy the entire Def Leppard discography (although I'm gong to have to import the disc that has Me & My Wine on it, because the song apparently isn't on the modern release of the album in America).

CanadianFonzie

Me & My Wine is that hard to find in the USA? I have it as a bonus track on the High 'n' Dry album

but as for the compilation album thing, I'm the kinda guy that doesn't go for compilations rather than actual albums, thehre are some artists like Billy Joel and Huey Lewis that I'll buy a greatest hits from just to get back into them...but I forget that not everyone is like that

Just Jeans

Me & My Wine is that hard to find in the USA? I have it as a bonus track on the High 'n' Dry album

The track is not included on current domestic pressings (http://www.amazon.com/High-N-Dry-Def-Leppard/dp/B000001DVD/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1202564709&sr=8-1) of High 'n' Dry. Nor is Bringin' on the Heartbreak (Remix).

but as for the compilation album thing, I'm the kinda guy that doesn't go for compilations rather than actual albums...

Albums would be preferable, no doubt. But me and money don't get on very well. In fact, in the last three years I don't think I've had more than $500, and that's being optimistic. Until I can get back to working, I have to take what I can get, and compilations are cheaper than buying every album that features tracks that I enjoy.

Early in our relationship Def Leppard had a major assist in getting my fiancee' to end her friendship with her ex boyfriend. I wasn't too keen on her being friends with him, but I kept it to myself as not to be "that kinda boyfriend" with jealousy issues.

So we're sitting in the NOLA arena waiting on Def Leppard to come on stage he comments on her facebook status ("at the Def Leppard concert!"), "What has 9 arms and SUCKS? - DEF LEPPARD!!!"

She called him an asshole, deleted him from facebook, and has not talked to him since (though he's still friends with the sister).

I did the happy dance. Thank you Def Leppard!

In other news, the concert ROCKED!!!!
