Discuss your favorite MMA fighters, including newly discovered fighters and those who will be/have left the sport.
Didn't Brock Lesnar make his MMA debut?
EDIT: I found his first MMA match

There's still a lot of speculation on exactly how well he'll do in places like the UFC. Sure he's big and athletic, but a good number of HW fighters would own him.

I am interested to see how KIMBO turns out. We had a full thread on him before. He's the bad ass street fighter made famous by his underground fight videos. He made his MMA debut in June, destroying Ray Mercer.
His next fight is against Tank Abbott. Should be interesting.
He's actually been training pretty hard with Bas Rutten.

I'd say he's got a pretty good shot at Tank, who is far past his prime.

It will be interesting to see how he handles himself in this one. He's used to overpowering and intimidating people. Tank is bigger, stronger, and has been in more fights, so wont be a push over. I want to see how Kimbo does when he has to rely on skill instead of muscle.

I think Kimbo has a good chance against Tank. If Tank doesn't finish him within the first couple of minutes, he'll gas.

If Kimbo destroys Tank, do you guys think UFC/Price or K1 will be calling?

Maybe, his reputation is growing and he's working with some well-known camps. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts fighting for Bas Rutten's team in the IFL

One thing before I go further.
Kimbo slice his people have been calling me a while ago and asked if could help him out with for his fight against Ray Mercer. I told them that I was unbelievably busy but that I could get him in contact with my main man Shawn Tompkins, this way he can also train with the Anacondas. So I set that up, he’s training now with Shawn in Las Vegas, if they leave for the fight in Seattle, Randy Kahtami will take over (the boxing coach in my gym), after we come back from the IFL show in Seattle, I will spend some more days with him.
They have been telling me that he’s the greatest guy to hang out with; Shawn called me and really likes him too, so this is going to be fun!!
I stumbled upon the videos and blog post about Bas training Kimbo.
Here is the post:

OK guys, I have to say something here.
I am training Kimbo right now (click for footage) (http://www.gofish.com/mma/insider.gfp?videoGfid=30-1121563), and I have to say that he is one of the BEST fighters I have EVER trained. He really listens to you and does what you say, do you know how hard that it? If he's dead tired, and I tell him five more rounds, he looks at me, but doesn't say anything, he just does it.
I introduced him to the Bas Rutten MMA workout (http://www.gofish.com/mma/training.gfp?videoGfid=30-1124986), he was SO tired, he told me that he has never been as tired. Today I was teaching him again, he asked me in the beginning "Are we going to do the Bas Rutten workout?" But he said it in a crazy way, so I asked him "Do you want to do it?". He said "Please, yes!" I asked him why, because all my PROFESSIONAL fighters don't want to do it.
He said "Bas, I want to conquer this thing, I want to do it!" Man, he gets, Lots, and losts of respect!
All the shit that people write about him, I am telling you, and I hope you know I don't lie, he's a trooper! I wish that all my fighters would be like him. Even my wife loves the guy. He is SO respectful and uses NO bad language in front of kids (my two little daughters love him, and they don't like anybody!), I am REALLY, blown away.
He really deserves this, I think this. Can a boxer be a MMA FIGHTER? We all know the answer, but can a street fighter be an MMA fighter? We all KNOW the answer to that!
I would wish that all my fighters were like him, like I said, I can put him through every workout I give him, he WILL do it, no questions asked.
I hope you guys meet Kimbo one day, you will be blown away. I just came back from an MMA event and I brought him there, just see how he is with the fans, it's crazy!
You also know that I would NEVER train an asshole, so trust me, but he's got me, Shawn Tompkins (who trained him longer than I have,) and Randy Kathami (boxing coach for my gym) respect. I REALLY love the guy.

With Bas and his team training him then he should go from strength to strength.

I was meaning to post this back on the old board, but I found a monster in local MMA a while back on YouTube. I'd heard of him before, but after seeing these videos I'd love to see him in action. Dan "The Handler" Hornbuckle, currently the 170lb champ in 2 Indiana MMA promotions (currently sitting on a record of 14-1, and he also happens to be a distant cousin of one of my best friends... bonus.
They really don't know each other though, just was a cool little tidbit I found out.
Here's one of the better vids... he's an awesome submission fighter. I generally don't like ground fighting that much but this guy makes it look good.

My uncle is currently in training to be a MMA. You can check out his Myspace at:

He is going to be known as Tim "Mr. Hyde" Denman. I think it's really great that he is following his life long dream.

I was watching some of those youtube videos, the one thing I don't like in like "fights, and wrestling" is the coaches in the corner screaming their lungs out the entire match. You have one guy saying one thing and sometimes another saying another, but most important 90% of the time the fighter/wrestler CAN'T HEAR YOU/THEM!
I used to be a wrestler and I very rarely could hear my coach in the corner, and also I very rarely listened because what you see from the corner is much different then what is going on in the wrestling match, also I've found that by yelling what to do prepares the other guy to know or expect what your going to do.
On the flip side I've been a coach as well, I've also probably been the most patient non yelling coach if you've ever seen one. There might be times I'll shout something but it's usually if my guy was controlling the match and it was pretty much a given that my guy could pull it off, and alot of times it'll be when they look towards me like not knowing what else to do or maybe something they can't see. Alot of my coaching was in between rounds pointing out the weakness or what has worked or doesn't work when they can actually hear/listen and pay attention.
Just something that has bugged me, like one of those "Handlers" match on youtube you have his corner just shouting stuff out through the entire match..

Randy Couture is a demigod.

COUTURE BREAKS ARM
Even Superman feels it from time to time.
Following yet another feather-in-his-cap performance Saturday at UFC 74 in Las Vegas, real life superhero Randy Couture (16-8), was informed Sunday by doctors that he’d broken his arm during his third round TKO stoppage of Gabriel Gonzaga (8-2).
Couture, 44, sustained the injury Saturday blocking a Gonzaga right high kick with his left forearm, cleanly separating the ulna bone with a “nightstick fracture,” a break common in law enforcement circles. The injury placed the UFC heavyweight champion’s arm in a splint for six weeks. The appendage will not need a cast.
“It’s not displaced, so the doctors think it will reattach in about a week and a half,” said Couture, who embarks on a South African adventure to shoot a leading role in major motion picture “The Scorpion King – The Akkadian” in nearly six weeks. It is believed the injury will not effect Couture’s shooting schedule.
To watch Couture's reaction of his bout and for a re-cap of all the fights, check out The Fight Network's original series "After The Bell" in the homepage's video player.

Captain America...
I saw that today about Randy's arm. That guy defines everything that is right about MMA. What a beast! The only thing he did wrong was blocking that kick with one arm. Muay Thai 101: USE BOTH ARMS. I only say that because a guy I trained with got his arm broken the same exact way.

That is a mindfuck for some people, trying to deal with all the screaming and general loudness.

I read about Randy's arm the day after the fight. The man truly is amazing.
Note to Dana White, sign Fedor ASAP so we can see these two go at it.

Yeah. Fedor vs Randy would be a great fight.
Would like to see Randy fight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira if Fedor doesn't sign.

I think Nog may be Randy's next fight. I'm aalso sure they're trying to hold out for Fedor.

Henderson vs Quinton was fucking amazing. And, I am officially a Houston Alexander nut rider.
Davis vs Taylor was AMAZING!!! I couldn't believe Marcus was able to recompose himself and continue fighting after that HUGE kick to the head, and not only to recompose but to also come back and get the armbar for submission. Both guy's really put on a show and defitnitely showed TRUE MMA action. From stand up to the ground just amazing.
I agree with this statement.
