So... I figured I would start this topic. I get sick of the same medicore whinings from certain people on my TMNT forum, so I want to hear what everyone here thinks.

Old Toon - Personally, Seasons 1 - 2 and a half (that's half of season 3 Folks) were great. Then it became way too fucking campy. While I own ALL of the DVDs for the old toon to date, I still can't bring myself to finish the 4th Season. They're releasing season 5 on August 7th with the last half of TMNT: Fast Forward and the TMNT movie. Meaning: I'm going to be spending WAY too much money on August 7th.

New Toon: ROCKS!!! I have not pissed or moaned about anything (other than the first few episodes of Fast Forward minus the FF pilot.) and I find this series to be far superior to the other series. On a side note: It in no way bothers me that Shredder Turns out to be an Utrom (which is what Krang was based off of.) Some of the episodes are darkier and far better than the ones of the 88 toon. (Watch "Same as it Never Was" and "Insane in the Membrane" to catch my drift.)

I'm tossing it up now... Let me hear what you have to say. For the record, Bebop and Rocksteady, all the while being signifigant to the old toon, they have no place in the new one, nor do I feel the need for them. The show operates just fine without, however, there are a few nods to them in the show.

Since it's been 3 days, here is some news that I'm taking from the TMNT June meetings reguarding the continuation of any movie, series, and toy lines.

Mirage's C.E.O. Gary Richardson and Director of Licensing Steve Murphy attended the Licensing Show in New York City last week and here's the scoop regarding the future for the TMNT:

TMNT movie sequel: Mirage and its partners (Imagi, Warner Brothers and the Weinstein Group) are still discussing the possibility of a sequel for the CG film. Hopefully a decision will be made by the end of summer. Think positive - create good karma!

TMNT cartoon on 4Kids TV (USA): Six new episodes of "Fast Forward" will air this fall beginning in September. From January to May of 2008, 4Kids TV will air most or all of the "Ninja Tribunal" episodes (although episode #110, "Nightmares Recycled", WILL NOT be completed or aired). Series producer Lloyd Goldfine and TMNT co-creator/owner Peter Laird are currently in talks regarding a new direction for the series to take in the fall of '08, but no definite decision has been made regarding what this new direction may be. Time will tell - but mum's the word for now.

Playmates Toys: movie-themed toys will continue to be released until mid 2008. No decisions have been made yet regarding what will be released for the second half of '08. Rumors of a 5' tall robotic action figure that can talk and do seven different martial arts moves are not true.

Ubisoft: Mirage is in negotiations with Ubisoft to produce a new TMNT video game. The CG movie models will be used, although the game will be independently produced (so it won't be directly based on any preexisting media like a TV show or film). If all goes well, the game will be out in late 2008 or early 2009. More than likely it will not be released on all of the same platforms that the movie game appeared on.

A retro-licensing program will kick into high gear in 2008 with merchandise based on the 1980s TMNT cartoon series. Lots of adult-sized gear will be available! Can we get a "Cowabunga!" from the faithful? Awe yeah!

Steve Murphy will be spearheading (katana-heading?) special events and merchandise programs to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the TMNT comic book in May, 2009. It's too early to say what will be involved, but Mirage plans to celebrate this monumental achievement in style!

I just watched the new CGI movie for the first time Monday and I gotta say, I'm on a full-blown TMNT nostalgia trip right now.

The film I'd say was on par with the first one, and it had stuff that newer, younger fans would enjoy, but was mature enough for (now) adult fans to like as well.

The old cartoon show is on dvd, eh? I have to get them now. Along with the 1st real-live action film and the new CGI one.

BTW, did you know the latest TMNT game has the old arcade game on the same disk as an easter egg?

I've been a big TMNT fan since around '89. I still have all of my old action figures stored safely in my attic. I have a fairly large collection of other TMNT stuff, as well.

Also; If it weren't for TMNT, I would've never discovered Usagi Yojimbo, which became my favorite comic book. (And it still is.)

Are they still making TMNT comics?

The TMNT comic line is going direct to internet. They're going to produce less than 3,000 copies per issue. (That's less than the first ever issue.) Tales of the TMNT is in production on a monthly basis. I'm thinking about selling mine so that I can have some extra money

Just saw that here in the UK we're FINALLY getting some of the original series on DVD. Next month. Oh boy oh boy.

See, after watching the 2K3 toon, I just cannot get into old school TMNT past the first season and a half. You should give the new toon a watch. I'm pretty sure they have them online.

I have quite a few DVD's of the new toon lying around, but I'm holding off till I can afford the season sets. I'm only excited about this because it WAS my childhood.

I was the same way when I saw the sets coming out for the old toon... and then I was very disappointed because it wasn't as stellar as I had remembered it. Except for the first season. I would still go back and watch that just for grins. :)

The new toon sets are being released Stateside in half season sets. They can only do this up until Season 5 - and then it's 13 episodes per season instead of 26. I have all of them except for the current incarnation (Back to the Sewars) and the Lost Season (or season 5 - where many fans believe TMNT 2K3 really ended). I should probably get online and order those sometime just to have a complete set....

OH! And "The Shredder Strikes," "The Shredder Strikes Back," "Return to New York," and "City at War" are the major great Highlights of the first two seasons. Such good story archs and it's the way I had always wanted to see the Turtles since I became a fan of the comics. :) If you have those particular DVDs, I say check them out.

the 88 cartoon was the shit. I have the full series one and two sets for the trading cards based on the cartoon. I almost have 2 sets of series one (Im missing like 15 or so cards) and quite a few doubles of the series 2 set

Okay so, having been skint for months I finally picked up the Season 1 & 2 set released a few months ago here in the UK, of the OT... it's an odd experience.

See, here in the UK we got this thing called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: How It All Began (as most of you will know, the title was changed for the UK) which is a single story composed of highly edited episodes from Season 1 and 2... so seeing those bits with all this extra stuff is such a strange thing...

Plus the main titles... madness...

Is it me, or does the animation in the very first episode of TMNT (80s series) have a crisper, higher quality of animation than the rest of the episodes? I haven't seen the show in probably 15 years, but that episode struck me as being much more fluid (I hadn't seen the first until I watched the show for a couple years).

Went to download the TMNT arcade game from the XBox Live Arcade and couldn't find it. Wikipedia says it was removed. Why was it removed? I finally got more XBox points to use and it wasn't there. :(

Oh well, got The Simpsons arcade game instead.

The Simpsons arcade game was a free game download of PSN Plus members in February. Better believe I snatched it up! Brings back a lot of memories.

I'd love to play the TMNT arcade game again someday too.
