I don't know how many of you are savvy to the ever growing list of raw video game soundtracks, but I've been sort of keeping up with them over the last year or two. Mostly, I've started collecting SPC soundtracks from SNES games. There's something magical about listening to raw SNES soundtracks in the same quality that they were rendered directly from the SNES sound chip (although recently I've started toying with SNES Amps settings, increasing the quality to above what the SNES itself was capable of).
Another plus side to these raw soundtracks is that they take up a lot less space than CDs when ripped to the PC. For example, my raw SPC version of the Final Fantasy VI soundtrack is only 284KB, whereas the CD rip is 224MB. It's also nice to have some soundtracks that weren't released on CD at all (Illusion of Gaia being a prime example) or are really hard to find (Earthworm Jim).
Does anyone else collect raw soundtracks?
