I did write this for the superman thread but it would alos fit in the Dark Knight thread.
In the end I thought not to clutter up a thread for a discussion about a movie that has not officially been announced but IMO is likely to happen sooner or later I'd make it's own thread
So what about thje rest of you do you think we will get the Superman vs Batman movie
Both franchises have said they would do and I even read a report which said both Routh and Bale would be up for it but both sets of movies want at least 3 solo movies out first (but that would take us to what at least 5-6 years before work even began)
I must say though after all these years it's about time we saw a team up on screen it's not like bringing 2 different sets of movies together and as we know in the comics they are quite close friends and have teamed up many times and that's not including JLA.
But that said what 2 villains would they use I think they would go for the obvious Lex and Joker and they are coincided to be the main nemesis of their hero (could there be more than 2)

We'll, let's see what happens to the Joker in "The Dark Knight" first. But as far as a villian for Batman, I'd expect someone capable of him a hard time in the physical department. Lex could be a third wheel villian, while a more suitable phyiscal threat would be in place for Superman.
I'd expect one of two stories.
1. Superman is forced to bring Batman down, but finds that he is not as bad as he's been made out by the press and the GCPD.
2. They meet and reluctantly team up to deal with a deadly threat.

I believe that they have talked about, but they decided, to put talks off until the next Batman and next Superman, come out. So probably looking at a 2012 timeline. It might also be a Justice League movie.

Well, they'll definately let Nolan finish his Batman trilogy before moving along with any team-up film, so it can't happen any earlier than 2011.

I did hear about both they want to make a few Wonder Woman and Flash movies to
But from what I read it would be if they all do well and Superman vs Batman does well then we will get JLA but I agree they may just move straight on with JLA.
Either way if they do happen and they know it's on I can see the the final movies all all the franchises at least giving the build up and doing something so they can carry on.
As WB own the rights to all DC even a quick cameo wouldn't be out of the question in one of the solo movies.
It wouldn't have to be much for example Batman could be on a rooftop in Gotham and look up and just see Superman fly by on his way somewhere

At last check, Joel Silver said that he's going to wait a while and might see what happens with the Justice League film. JLA has a first draft completed and is well received. Depending on how quickly WB wants to put this in turn around, it could come out before "The Man Of Steel."

How would that work?
Would Routh and Bale be playing the parts of Superman & Batman or would they bring in someone new would they even have the time?
Would it be set within the same universe/continuality as the other movies as going by The Batman movies he’s nowhere near ready at this point yet to give up the depressive loner deal and team up with a group of heroes that’s why I thought they would leave it until after part 3 as by then they could of mellowed him out a little.
They haven’t even got started on movies for Wonder Woman-- Flash (is there a Green Lantern movie planned which leads to another point which one will they use)
I would watch it but this is a case where I think waiting could be for the best

In this scenerio, do you see Superman trying to take down Batman because he personally feels it must be done or because someone of a higher "authority" tells him too? The latter would be more interesting because they could do a storyline where Lex blackmails the mayor of Gotham or someone like that into asking Superman for help in dealing with Batman. However, this is a ploy devised by Lex to get Superman out of his hair (no pun intended) so he pursue a much bigger plan of world domination.
It would also be interesting if Batman's already prepared for Superman. Perhaps Bats has studied Supes in his spare time and planned ahead in case he ever had to deal with big blue.

Dunno. It depends on what comes down the line.

The League was formed when everyone was fairly new to the game. Batman joined because he was afraid of the unknown factors that had gone beyond his simply cleaning up Gotham.

There's been talk of Green Lantern, but like the other films, they've kinda stalled for one reason or another. A JLA movie might make a difference in getting those films made. Whedon and Goyer are off WW and Flash. The only other DC hero project in the works is "Super Max" with Green Arrow, but that's different all together. The film starts with Green Arrow already established and is arrested by the police. He's then locked up with various DCU villians, though the lesser ones.

I'd wager that it'd be more of a case where Batman's vigilantism is deemed too much. Perhaps framed for a crime he didn't commit and thus since the GCPD seems incapable of taking down a freak in a Halloween costume, you recruit someone who can get the job done.
